Archbishop Mcnicholas High School Ratings & Reviews

All three of my children have attended Mcnicholas high. I absolutely disagree with the negative feedback regarding leadership at this school. We had our sons shadow at other local schools such as St. Xavier, Moeller and Summit Country Day. My children and I felt more comfortable with the overall choice of McNicholas. Many families were promoting their sons to go to St X for the "prestige" ... my son would have been in the St. Xavier Honors House- we did not want our child to be one of ?400 in his freshman class. Moeller was geared toward athletics and my sons updated me that there was "clowning around" throughout their shadowing experience. Lastly, we did not prefer Summit due to no band and no children from the parish were attending this school- only the parish around Summit. Overall, the Mcnick experience has reinforced the life style and chrisitian values we have instilled in our children. McNick is a "real world experience" catholic school and a hidden gem.

The students must overcome a lack of leadership from the Principal and Business director. Neither will get to know you or your student, they both lack social skills and the students is not a priority. I good dose of teachers that are not McNick alumni would be nice. Great opportunity for the school to move forward, but not with the current lack of leadership. I sent an email, Mid June, to the principal and copied the business director, asking why the 3 openings in the English department. Aug. I still have no received a reply from either"leader."

The leadership across the board is poor.A principal that lacks social skills and vision, makes me wander how she got the job. Declining enrollment, key indicator is they don't get the siblings of alumni. A Business advisor that can't tell you what he's done to help the school in the past 2 years, He can't attend meetings because he busy doing what? McNick cant keep teachers because of a lack of leadership. An AD that just punches the clock, he doesn't leed his department as well. The leadership team doesn't know your child nor your family.

Wonderful school. My two children are excelling thanks to the wonderful teachers. Highly recommend, my oldest started at Anderson hs, and the difference now is amazing!

On the whole, the staff lacks competency and integrity. As a parent who chose the school for its "Christian values", I have been very disappointed. Also, leadership is weak. The principal places more emphasis on the quantity of homework (8 hours or more per night is not uncommon for honor students) than she does on the quality of the teaching and the character of her teachers. While a select minority of the teachers are highly qualified and honorable, I believe that most are less qualified than their peers who teach in the neighboring public schools. Overall, huge disappointment for a Catholic school.
