Wonderful place where your daughter can grow and learn.

Every school has its issues and OLMA is no different. It does seem, however, that it is often only the negative people who decide to write a review to complain. It is a special school for those who are willing to work hard and appreciate all the extra opportunities to develop into strong, confident young women ready to accept the challenges of college and the world. If we were talking about boys the challenges would be commendable!! This school gives girls the chance to rise above the limited expectations that still exists for girls in academics today. They CAN achieve what they set their minds to and set the course for their own future.

Don't choose OLMA. This school is filled with overly wealthy rich kids, who absorb their conservative views from their affluent parents. The day after the 2016 presidential election, my daughter told me there were tons of girls in the cafeteria chanting "BUILD A WALL! BUILD A WALL!". When my daughter's English class was assigned a persuasive essay, one girl wrote about why people of color should not get scholarships solely because they are, in fact, people of color. My daughter and I, though white, are quite concerned about the prejudice evident in her peers' views. Additionally, she told me one student made a highly racist comment to another student, and absolutely nothing was done about it. And yet, girls get referrals everyday for the tiniest things, such as having their skirts too short, not wearing their IDs, or not bringing in an "absent note" after they missed a day. The girls are only allowed to use their cell phones for "academic purposes", even during their lunch periods. There are also few Honors classes once you get to the higher level courses, so the only choice your daughter will have is a regular class, (too easy) or an AP class, (too hard). Some select teachers may be competent, yes, but most of them view the students as hysterical teenage girls. This often comes into play when the teachers give too much work. They'll brush off the students' complaints of work being too difficult or too much as them being spoiled. Which in any other case I would agree with, but not in the sense of homework. My daughter works from the time she gets home until bed, with barely enough time to eat, even without an extracurricular tagged on to the end of the day. The kids are spoiled, though, when it comes to everything else. They complain about the food, which my daughter and I both agree is excellent- near restaurant-quality. When my daughter first realized that she was surrounded by much wealthier people it was quite a culture shock. There was a clear "them" and "us", even with her friends, which made her pretty upset. And the fact that many other students are racist did not make it any better. This school's tuition is way too high for what the school actually gives back. If you are a parent, do not work your ass off just for your child to go here. It's not worth it, I can assure you. Choose another, more open-minded, understanding school and enjoy life.

OLMA was an amazing experience for my girls. They both chose OLMA on their own and worked really hard throughout high school. The dedicated teachers and administration were always there and wanted what was best for the girls. The Art Fair showcased the amazing talent that the girls possess as well as all the beautiful concerts and dance performances. OLMA had everything there you just need to embrace what you want to do and enjoy. My girls were both so prepared for their college experience. The common complaints about no boys and a lot of work should have been no surprise to anyone who attended. I read some of the reviews that said it is a school for spoiled, rich girls. Well I am not rich at all and worked overtime to afford the school for my daughters and I am happy everyday I do it as I know we have invested in their future. I strongly recommend OLMA and have to many people.

My two daughters both attended OLMA. They are both very different young ladies with different interests. One is an extrovert and one is introverted. They both excelled at OLMA. The teachers were fully vested in the girls. The administration took the time to know every girl and to continually look for new ways to improve the school. Contrary to some of the other reviews....we ARE NOT RICH in anyway well off but our girls flourished and have made lifelong friends. Both our girls went on to get scholarships at top schools. School in general is hard work and OLMA is no exception...but I dare you to find one student, whether they say they loved it or hated it that wouldn't say they were so well prepared to college on every level. We sacrificed to send our girls there and would do it all over again ! OLMA is an institution that prepares young ladies to the leaders in their careers, community and the nation.
