Brighton High School Ratings & Reviews

Being a student in the Brighton community has been enlightening experience, and has been very helpful towards my overall development. Other students and staff are extremely welcoming and everyone strives to aid you in any time of need. Clubs, sports, advanced placement academics, and school-hosted functions are just a few of the many things Brighton does to help every individual blossom. If you're looking for a serious school that will help your child grow and find out more about who they are, Brighton is the place to be! GO BARONS!

As A student at BHS many of the teachers are disorganized and overly rigid. And if a student is having difficulty in a class the school we almost immediately place them in a program designed for student with learning issues such ADD or ADHD. They just push everyone through and it feels like they only want students o do well so they can have better numbers. Many of the teachers that have worked their for a long time develop a level of arrogance towards students and parents. Overall it feels impersonal like a factory instead of a grow and learn. And the district only focuses on state required aspects of education, leaving many students with few real world skills. For example the school has extremely little capacity for students who want to take drivers education, and there is no entitlement for upperclassmen. The district is resurfacing the football field with new AstroTurf even though the football team has never really done that well. All high school students have to pay admission to football games to pay for the equipment and stadium lighting. In conclusion Brighton High School has many more hidden issues that all add up to a flawed and coddled high school experience, with entitled teachers, illogical budget planning and overall impersonal treatment of students and parents.

I relocated to the district in August due to work and have had a terrible time enrolling my child in school. Every staff member I have encountered has been short and unaccommodating via email and telephone. Staff seems to have a sense of entailment. They have made me feel very unwelcome. If they are this rude to me, I can only imagine how the children are treated. Parent night’s exclude children, for someone such as myself who parents alone and just moved here it is difficult to secure child care to attend these events, and if you do not attend I am made out to be a “difficult” unaccommodating parent. Bus registration was the most difficult issue, due to late registration my child could not be accommodated for transportation until mid-month. The expectation to leave work to shuttle my child was unreasonable. I understand why 25% of students miss the first week of classes. If you don’t come from a 2 parent family you cannot make it work. A formal bus registration form finally came to my home on Sept 8th. 8 weeks after formal enrollment.

What I like about this school. Having regular classes, joining clubs, also going to the Junior Prom and the Senior ball. About joining clubs, meeting new friends and having a good / fun time. When I was there, I joined Friends Of Rachel and DECA club. It is really fun. There is classes that i do like. Economics, Law & Government. I learned so much. Right now, i'm a alumni because i graduated in 2008-11.

Simply said, Brighton is an amazing school. I'm a senior and been in the district my whole life. I went to a different school for 10th and 11th grade and never realized how much I didn't appreciate the quality of learning. Not untill it's gone do you realize how good of an education you got, especially if you've never had another school to compare it to. Cliques aren't really an issue. There are cliques but no student cares about them. You will find your niche here.
