My son was there since 6th grade up until 12th and we've enjoyed the way the school is very involved and interested that he perform to the best of his abilities. They have a lot of support services and the Principal is extremely involved. I would HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone. We were so happy with it that we enrolled our other child with them as well.

I entered this school in the 7th Grade. To me this school was a waste of time for me. I am not saying that it would be for anyone else but for me I wanted more of a traditional school. They only offered one sport at this school, and basketball wasn't what I wanted to do. They gym was a joke, the only good thing about this school was the garden but even that felt like they could have done more with. I didn't learn much, I practically had to teach the professor and the class how to use a computer. The computer course was a joke. Meshing Math and Science in one long session was not a good move. I felt like I was missing a lot of subjects or materials which will be critical in High School and College. I didn't stay past my first 2 years, the first opportunity I had to escape I did, even if it meant that my parents had to pay for private school to get me out of else I would have been stuck. Not saying all teachers were bad but there was some that just didn't care, maybe it was because the school was in its infancy, it might be better now but at the time it felt like walking into a prison when you was inside.

Very good. Our 16 year old junior started at East Side in 6th grade and elected to stay even after gaining acceptance for HS to LaGuardia and the High School of Art and Design. Small class size, small school, real connections with teachers and a principal who somehow knows every kid in the school by name are the reasons our family loves East Side. Our teen has a 94% average and wonderful teachers. The atmosphere is of a community. Go on a tour. Meet the principal.

My daughteris receiving such a great education at East Side. the expectations of teachers are so high and their commitment to their work is remarkable. I appreciate what a responsive staff works at the school- the principal , administrative team and teachers are so quick to respond with any issue and are actively cultivating a great community

This schools focus is less on academics but more focus on giving students a voice. It has a very liberal political agenda with kids often leaving school for protest marches with posters around the halls to support such activism. I'd have much preferred a more academic perhaps old fashioned focus that what this school provided. You have to really be on the teachers to get support to push your child through. Some teachers oddly spiteful with the kids too. The casual atmosphere also doesn't foster much respect between kids and staff. Wish we could move to a different school, very disappointing for us. Cool if academics aren't key but you want a hip cool liberal kid
