Through my first three (two and most of the third) years at MHS the administration was great! Now that we have "deans" things are a little crazy and it isn't like the "family" the past administrator had created, but besides that everything seems to be going well. Yes there are problems but all schools do. MHS gives students like me many great opportunities through different classes that can be taken and after school activities. The teachers (for the most part) are great and very helpful, as well as the monitors that are around the school making sure everything goes smoothly throughout the day. Also as a bonus within our MHS music department we have a Grammy nominated teacher! MHS is a great school and I would recommend it to anyone who truly wants a great education. MHS has many technological advances that other districts do not which really helps in the learning process. All in all I believe this is a great school and cant stress enough how much I recommend this school. I have seen other districts and they do not compare! I plan to become a teacher and hopefully teach in the Middletown district some day!

I've had three daughters graduate from this school in the past ten years. Two daughters graduated with honors and one is now attending NYU. My daughters never had a problem in this school. The teachers were more than helpful. If you teach your children to respect themselves and their teachers they will not have a problem in this school. Fighting is almost unheard of and very little drug activity if any at all. Overall an excellent school!

Let us bring this forum up to date! As of 2010, my sons second term at this school, I have yet to ever hear from a teacher that he may be failing or is. It is not until I get his report cards that I learn 'he is capable of doing better' ! The same comments by all. So the question is 'if: capable and not doing what he should or lack of motivation, toss it on the working parent? When my son does ask for help, he hears 'another' day, I cant today etc. The root of the problem stems from over population, teachers who are simply burnt out, no longer care and cater to their favored students. I personally know several teens who hate this school and dropped out opting for a G.E.D.

This is a school and district that has come out of some dark times and poor leadership. It is a great school and district and the class sizes are 18 at the primary and 25 in the secondary. Visit and don't listen to the negative few. The facts will speak for themselves.

While there are a plethora of programs and activities for students and teachers (some of the best around), the district is growing faster than it's able to keep up with. Classes have no caps and are too large, lunch rooms are overflowing, and too many teachers have to teach from a cart. The place has gotten too populated and unweildy. Despite its recent expansion, Middletown needs a second high school. The strong will survive.
