Having used a local public school and this school I can say that education is far better and the students are prepared for college. Two if my children attended and received very generous college scholarship offers . Another review stated that 1/3 attend OCCC - simply not so. My son was under challenged in pubic school, the guidance department did nothing to help him with college whatso ever. In contrast the Burke guidance department when above and beyond to help each year preparing students for the best possible college choices.

This is my second experience with John S Burke HS, My first daughter went there for 4 years in 1996 and now our other daughter has just begun 9th grade...My experience with the school so far has been the same as it was in 1996 FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! the scool is great but only if you are committed to working hard. You will not be able to sleep through your courses. Our oldest daughter was in a class of 100 ALL students went to college my daughter recieved multiple offers from colleges to attend, many offered full scolarships. We know our next child will do the same. After doing the math it was cheaper for us to send our daughter to Burke as that in turn got us the scolarships to her college..

I love Burke, it's a great school. Ever since the principle changed everything in the school has been improving. Can't wait to see how the new ipad curriculum turns out this year!

"I have enrolled all 6 of my children in Burke, and I have been completely satisfied with the results. I have become very impressed with many of the teachers. My first son graduated in 2003 with a class of about 180 or so, but because of the recession the numbers have died down a lot. The numbers are starting to pick up though, and I believe under the new prinicipal that Burke will start to thrive again. I am also impressed with the diversity of the student body(coming from a Hispanic background), which is something you don't usually see in most catholic schools. When most people think of ""Catholic School"" they think of crazy die-hard religious people, as I thought this same thing at first. Burke has shown to not fit the stereotype, as they put education first. Overall, I give Burke an A+."

Burke is a great school. I went there for 4 years. My sister went for two as she has transitioned from a public school before it. She explained that everyone is like a family which understandable because there are only about 100 kids in each class range. I was very scared my first day, but quickly got over it after meeting the teachers and making a lot of friends even the first day. I joined the drama club and everything fell into place. I graduated in 2012 with a musical theater award. My brother has now started his first year. He loves it and is involved with wrestling, cross country and drama as my sister and I did. Burke is an amazing place. It's what you make of it.
