7 out of 10. Because I like most of the teachers and the parents

A STEM lab? That’s really funny. I graduated this school a few years ago and still attend my church. The teacher who is in charge of the STem lab is a very nice woman but she shouldn’t even be allowed to dust the computers. She knows nothing about technology. She was a nice regular teacher but if the school is bragging about a stem lab its ridiculous. There were some nice kids here and it was an okay experience but really it was boring. There were never any trips and the teachers never changed up any of the books or tests because my sister is doing the same things now that we did when we were there. I think its a nice school to play sports for but go somewhere else where they don’t play favorites so much and the work is more interesting.

This is a terrible school. I would give it zero stars if I could.

“The teachers are willing to offer help and tutoring to students who aren’t doing well” The poster forgot to mention the important part- for a price. A complete farce and an unethical one at that. Teachers tutoring the siblings of present students in such a small school breeds favoritism. My son’s friends were tutored by the following year’s teachers when they struggled with math and it was very obvious they were favored by those same teachers the following year when they were their actual students. Teachers should NOT be tutoring kids in the same school. The bigger issue is how atrocious the math instruction in the 7th and 8th grade actually is and how NOTHING is done about it. The principal and pastor should be ashamed of themselves. If I could give this school zero stars I would. Look at St. Mel’s and St. Kevin’s before making any decisions about this place and talk to as many parents of graduates as you can.

St. Andrew Avellino is an outstanding school. There is a great rapport berween students, parents, faculty and principal. The school’s standardized test scores are always among the best in the Diocese of Brooklyn which is a testament to the education they are receiving. This year, the school added a STEM lab and next year students will be working with Chromebooks. If you are looking for a place to send your child next year, you can set up a tour or you can even have your child spend the day.
