I moved to this district because I believed that my child would be more likely to do well in this new environment. The school was rated higher than the chartered school which he was attending and I thought this was a no brainer he was going to do great. I am extremely disappointed. There was very little homework. And when there was, it was not up to the standard of his last school. There were no daily spelling words; no weekly spelling tests; no homework on weekends. And not sufficient follow-up on my child's performance. I honestly did not think they cared enough to work with my child on his weaknesses so that he could excel as they did in the charter school he had just left. My child is bright but he can do so much better if he is given the right tools. I want to see more teachers who care enough to put their all into helping my child reach his optimum performance. He is shy; engage him more. He does not express himself as well as he could; show him how. Let them play games to trick them into getting comfortable expressing themselves. Do it often enough so that it becomes a routine. Incorporate teaching them good manners, tolerance.English comprehension is also an area I would like to see more emphasis placed. For those busy mothers who are trying their best, It helps tremendously to have a teacher who is on your side, helping you to fill in the blanks. I need to see more teachers of this calibre, who are not just here for a paycheck but to make a difference.

Miss Cockren second grade teacher is very caring patient and nice. This is my first time in public school and the environment is safe and clean, but the work is average and not challenging enough. There is either no homework or very little and the homework is not checked promptly if at all. Assistant Principal Miss Walfall is very into the students well-being. She is professional and experienced in her role. The main difference is public school has a lot of red tape. You have to put everything in writing, even to talk to the teacher even when you see the teacher in the hallway, you have to go through the front office for everything. I find that all this hype prevents the parent-teacher bond from forming easily, especially when the front office is not very welcoming. Sometimes you want to communicate something to the teacher but wait until you absolutely need to talk, because of the additional stress you have to go through when dealing with the front office. I feel they find objections or ways not to help you instead of making it easy to do business with them. Also, they are unfriendly, and very dismissive, quick to get you off the phone. I will see how things progress, but overall not impressed, an average experience.

I'm very pleased with this school, teachers are nice and always concern on the students the nurses are wonderful. The people at the office really need to be trained on being more polite and helpful they are ALL I mean ALL very rude, they make you feel like you are bothering them and you shouldn't call or bother them with questions of any type....I wish they can be more respectful.

Clara is a great school my kids go there and I feel that it is safe. I also know that all the teachers work really hard and love what they do. I will like to thank Mrs. Calciano for her hard work, time, patiens and comprehension given to my 4th grade daughter. A special thanks to Mrs. Cockren another great teacher at Clara C.
