My (2) children have been attending BWCCS since Pre-K. My eldest graduated last year (2014) and I put her in a different school other than the BWCCS Middle School. Needless to say, I placed her back in BWCCS for the Middle school. I found the academic work more rigorous and challenging. I also love the fact they have very small classes with approximately 12-15 students in a class (due to low enrollment). The staff in the middle school were welcoming, friendly and responsive when taking her in after the 1st qtr. ended. As it stands, we've had more great experiences with the lower school than negative. Not every teacher was a great one and there were annual leadership changes, however, my husband and I felt our children were safe, academically challenged, and everyone knew everyone. Teacher and faculty knew us and our children very well. Most were very responsive to any concerns or questions we had as parents . The school has had lots of drama over the past 2 years, but we all (Parents & Faculty) came together to fight for the school. My eldest daughter is so happy to be with BWCCS again and that in itself is a great relief for us.

I love this school. I love that they email me my child's homework every night. They call me when my child is absent to let me know he's out. Unlike other schools that wait until the night, they call within the 1st hour. Also they are very dedicated to giving the best education to my child. There's no excuse for not finding the help student needs to advance.

Beginning with Children has been my son's and daughter's k-8 school. The school provides a safe, encouraging and creative environment to learn in. Children are appreciated as individuals and all learning styles are addressed. After a difficult transition, the school is now an independent charter school with a very competent board ready to work with all constituents of the community to move the school forward. The teachers with support from administrators are leading the development and implementation of curriculum that is relevant to expectations of the DOE and the school. The principal of the middle school is a committed administrator who has known the school as a teacher, parent, coach and administrator. My kids are competent learners and much progress is being made this year.

Thanks to the efforts of the BWCCS Foundation and an inability to resolve issues with the teacher's contract, this once wonderful school where I taught for two years, will be closing at the end of the 2013-14 school year. A SHAME.

This use to be a great school but several years ago the BWCCS Foundation that "supports" the school forced parents and teachers to resign from the Board on the threat of closing the school. Now, the Board is made up of individuals with no ties to the immediate community or students. This allows the Foundation (an organization not run by educators) to essentially run the school as they please with no input from parents or teachers.Their mismanagement has resulted in lowered test scores and the school being put on the Schools in Need of Improvement list. Two years ago they fired a very experienced principal only to hire one that parents and teachers had decided was too inexperienced. This principal has the one attribute they wanted. He follows directions. The school has gone from a nurturing, child centered community where independent, higher level thinking and real world learning was promoted to a test centered, factory learning style. For this reason the school has lost many great and seasoned teachers. Also, many parents, like me have opted to remove our children for these reasons and a lack of response from administrators about our concerns.
