Its funny that things havent changed at this school. I went to McNamara back in 1983 until 1987. I have a couple very good teachers but a third grade teacher who was just a mean and hateful woman. I wont even get into some of the things she did to myself and some of the other students. Fortunately she retired in 1986. We lived in Radisson and my Mother always said that they made Radisson people go to this school because the district resented Radisson for some reason. anyway.... We moved away so my younger siblings wouldn't have to go to this school.

Honestly this was like going from heaven to hell for my kids. We were at a great elementary school in the same district, but we were forced to switched schools when we moved 1 mile away. From what we have experienced in the last 4 months, I can tell you that this school SUPPORTS bullies, is extremely unwelcoming, has no school song or team mascot as a bonding tool for its students, hides whatever it can from parents and is run like a dictatorship. The principal does not know the children by name UNLESS they are a problem to her, or exceptional in some way. Both my children have stated they no longer feel safe going to school!! This is a huge problem! They both have been picked on and physically hurt by other students for being the "new kids", and we never received a call? When I went in to address the issue, the principal seemed put off that I didn't have an appointment, and only cared about her own prospective of the situation. My kids went from being so enthusiastic about learning and school last year, to begging me not to make them go! Is this the best place for our children? I think not.

My children attended this school and I have to say I find the attendance secretary to be extremely rude, unkind, and seems to have a bad attitude in general. She is very nosey and condescending. She has made me feel like I was a child on many occasions. Sadly, most parents and staff feel the same way about her, but complaints fall on deaf ears. The principal is on a serious power trip! She acts like a child when things don't go her way and will not work with you at all. Parent involvement is highly encouraged, yet she puts many restraints on involvement in the classroom. The PTA is a joke! Unless you live in Radisson, don't even bother trying to be a part of it! Apparently they are the "in crowd" and they'll make sure you know you're not one of them. Speaking of radisson, why do they even go to McNamara? There are at least two schools that are considerably closer to them. In fact the bus drives by my house, which is closer. To McNamara, but my children are being forced to attend a different school this yer after 1 has attended there for k-3 and the other k-1. And 1 has issues that would be detrimental to her education by being moved Tia new school.
