Horrible. If you have the money for private school believe me it is worth the investment in a good one. As a previous graduate of FAS, because the experience was so horrible I was so close to going to Red Bank Catholic and not Shore Regional because I thought it was the same circus happening over there. But I kid you not Shore Regional is one of the best public high schools in the county. As a student now all I can say is Shore is a well-oiled machine. No non-sense what so ever, and no tolerance for any crap or unintelligence. Shore Regional saved my academic career from going to dirt because of FAS.

Totally agree with the two posters before me. I pulled both of my kids out of this school two years ago and put them in a private middle school. Bullying, teachers and administrators not doing their jobs and turning a blind eye depending upon what kid was involved, "gifted and talented" selection based on nepotism, pushing smart talented kids to the middle . . . the list goes on. Pulling my kids out was the best decision I ever made. The school needs serious help - it is a nightmare.

This school is an absolute nightmare. It has had three principals over the course of four years. Three superintendents over the course of four years. Many of the teachers do not teach and when some administrators attempt to do the job they were hired for, certain board of education members tell those administrators to "lay off." The majority of the current board of education are there for self serving reasons, but lack the ability, know how or concern to do what is best for the district as a whole. The current principal, who is now leaving, was involved in a romantic relationship with a teacher's son. Who is doing that teacher observation? The only informed person in that district was Bruce Preston who is now leaving. There is a serious lack of professionalism and training. Way to much inconsistency to be effective. Kiss 7th and 8th grade good bye. Apparently, there is no instruction for math in 8th grade during the school day. They do a "flip curriculum" where the kids watch videos online and do the follow-up work in class. Also, there is no homework--ever! It's so sad. I pay way too much in taxes to get such a poor education for my kids.

Over the years this school has deteriorated. My academically talented children have experienced such frustration with the "everybody has to be average" mentality of this district. My first child had at least a somewhat challenging education with leveled math all five years, research papers in 7th and 8th, and an advanced academic group in 8th grade. The second child came in as the "average" mentality was really taking off and has lost out on so much. By the end both just looking forward to high school (out of district) and finally an education equal to their ability. In addition, in earlier years parents were able to be part of class trips and class activities. Now I don't see that happen. They pull out regular teachers to go on trips and replace with subs, particularly the AT teachers, and then the students miss out on their classes. There are some really good teachers whose hands are tied by the administration and some lousy teachers who you just pray your child doesn't get or you have a wasted year. I was told the school could not concern itself with my individual child's education - that they have to look at the population as a whole. I wish I could afford private school.

I am a graduate of Frank Antonides school and a current teacher in another district. After having the opportunity to work and observe in several districts, I can honestly say that I received a very well rounded education at this school. I learned things that other districts never even touch on! I had Spanish and Computer Education from kindergarten to eighth grade which is unheard of in most other districts. I would highly recommend all the schools in the West Long Branch School District.
