This school is very subpar. The teachers are good and caring people, but the principal is not really the sharpest crayon in the box. They have a very misguided way about characterizing and labeling kids. Anything that a kid does is automatically labeled as bullying, yet they teach kids to walk away from one another when someone says something they don't like. Instead of teaching communication, they are teaching kids to be rude to one an other... It's crazy! This doesn't pertain to my child only. It's really only to the kids that are learning things faster than others...they want the kids that learn quicker to slow down and be considerate to the kids that don't. This is incredibly stifling to the development of the children. This is in line with the way the education system is handling math education. The common core standard system is taking the common sense out of solving problems and it seems this method of teaching is affecting how the school teaches behavioral understanding. It really seems the school is just trying to avoid lawsuits, so they just label everything they can without having to actually find a solution.

BME is a good school for children with learning dissabilities. They offer next to nothing for academicaly talented students. The AT program which pulls students out for a period once a week (IF the AT teacher "has time") does very little to stimulate the kids. State scores shows the decline over the years and many families are pulling children out and forced to pay for private school in order for their children to be stimulated in an environment with disciplined students.

Advanced academically compared to local schools. I have personal experience since I have step children / friends that go to other schools. For example our school gives 50% more spelling words weekly. BM also offer personal one on one (out of class) extra help for those children requiring extra help. Furthermore, our principal, Mrs. O'reilly is outstanding. Her methods are hands on and she knows each and every one of the students personally/academically. Since Mrs. O'rielly has come to BM the school has become better all around. My husband and I both went to Ranney School in Tinton Falls, NJ and BM is the next best thing or just as good as a private school such as Ranney School.
