"As was stated in many prior reviews, the guidance staff is horrible here. For a school that likes to call itself ""college prep"", they offer absolutely zero support and assistance when it comes to college applications. When I tried to go for some help with the process, I was basically told that because I did not play any sports they couldn't do anything to help me and that I should start looking into some lower tier schools. I was in all honors and AP classes and was ranked #16 in a class of 150 and was still turned away. They seem to see it as a waste of time to help anyone who is not a top student AND a star athlete. I muddled through the applications on my own, researched schools on my own and did the best I could. I applied to some good schools but nothing Ivy League. AFTER the applications were submitted and I started to get numerous rejection letters, the guidance counselor then starts to point out the things I could have done differently when applying and started to explain why I wasn't admitted to any schools except my safety school. Couldn't she have said something months ago when I was asking for help?? I feel like the school absolutely ruined by life. I put up with the 4 years of the excessive workload, thinking that it would pay off in the end, only to end up with nothing to show for it. If you are looking into this school for the purpose of giving your child an advantage when it comes college admissions PLEASE reconsider. As a college prep school it is a complete waste of money. 90% of public schools will provide better college prep services and even if yours doesn't, that money will be better spent on a private college counselor or SAT prep."

IHA is a superior institution that stands by the foundation and virtue in which it proclaims it instills. Many of my family and friends attended IHA and were extraordinarily prepared for success and have become tremendous role models within their respective communities. IHA is an excellent example of character, integrity, and spiritual wellness... all invaluable virtues one can have. I highly recommend IHA in every way imaginable. Some day, I will be sending my daughter.

If you want your daughter to be prepared for college, gain confidence, and become a caring young woman, this school is a great choice. As a educator, I can attest to the quality of the faculty and administration, the truly motivated and enthusiastic students, and the supportive parents. Walking in the door, you can feel the friendly spirit and accepting environment. If you take the trouble to actually step on to the beautiful campus, you'll know.

"IHA has definitely been the best place for my daughter, who is presently a junior. She made a seamless transition from eighth grade, finding many clubs and of course classes that she was interested in, beginning freshman year. And no, she's not an athlete. I find it unfortunate that Immaculate Heart is sometimes referred to as the ""sports school,"" because they offer my daughter so much more than that. She works hard in her classes, has a wonderful group of friends that I'm sure will be life-long, and she is truly thriving as she grows into a well-rounded young woman. Don't get me wrong, the classes are challenging and the teachers expect a lot, but I know my daughter will come out of IHA feeling more than prepared for college. I would (and do) recommend IHA to any and all parents looking for a wonderful school to send their daughters."

With two daughters having gone through the college prep process, I can say that IHA is SERIOUSLY lacking in their guidance department. As a previous reviewer pointed out, unless your daughter is an overachiever or athlete, she will fall through the cracks. The college app process isn't easy, but definitely made worse by uncaring staff who belittle or outright ignore needs of some girls. Both daughters were brought to tears by the treatment in guidance. The tuition is the same for everyone, yet clearly AP students & athletes receive preferential treatment. I've seen no effort on the part of the administration to address this issue which is pretty commonly known. It's the elephant in the room, but will probably never be changed. There are a handful of outstanding, caring teachers who do make it worth sending my daughters to school there. The curriculum is above average & the girls are prepared for college. Again, my only wish is that the overall treatment of ALL of the students was fair & more consistent with the teachings in a CATHOLIC school environment.
