My daughter transferred in Sophomore year and I could not believe the difference between her public school and Donovan. I would recommend Donovan to anyone looking for a positive, supportive, loving community for their child to grow and succeed in.

It was the worst experience, ever for my child!! My child was there two years ago, but I have continued to monitor it and still attend many of the sporting events (cheering on the other team). On the outside (the commercials) it sounds great. The problems begin with a teaching staff that has a huge turnover ratio and the incoming are terrible. They cater to inexperienced teachers (who are waiting for the their public school teaching job) or the opposite, retired teachers (who are looking for something to do) neither of which is interested in the betterment of the student. The bullying that goes on there is not acknowledged whether your child is a boy or a girl, you are not believed, or they just don't 'see' what you see. Or the parents that make a financial donation to increase their child's playing time in any sport you look at. How about we look at the turnover for coaches. OMG! How about you look at the turnover of students in the sports programs who come for one year and leave. If this was such a wonderful place, why would they leave? I'm not just talking about the students whose parents paid their way there, I'm talking about the students who received an abundance of financial aid and it was so bad they left after one year there, too! The school will tell you that they do not have that information and don't keep track of that statistic. One of the coaches is currently, over stepping hisl bounds by bullying his players mentally while they play. People see this and no one says anything and HE IS STILL COACHING! Go watch terrible coach at girls basketball game and see how horrible this coach is too, just as bad!! This team started the year with a great basketball player(like every year). The coach so oblivious, and to show that he doesn't know the game, he reduced her playing time, treated her terribly with the mental game he does. Thankfully her parents moved her and she is playing at another school, this season (2016-2017). When they played Manasquan she put up 24 points, made five 3-pointers, with eight rebounds. No matter who you are, Don't waste your time with Donovan Catholic, even if they throw money at you and don't spend your money there either.

I attended Monsignor Donovan and can truly say it was an environment 100% focused on nurturing not just my academic and athletic abilities, but my spiritual and personal needs as well. My teachers understood how to challenge me as an individual, and how to adjust those challenges to meet the needs of different students. The core fundamentals of becoming a good and giving person were fostered both inside and outside the classroom by a staff that commits themselves to being a support system for each student.

I have 2 boys currently attending Monsignor Donovan, they love it there and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The block schedule is fantastic, set up more like a college than an elementary school. This allows the middle of the day flex period to be very productive for clubs, and any extra help needed from teachers. It also allows students an extra class period a year for areas they are interested in. The laptop each student receives as a freshman is great because so many of their books are available electronically. The faculty and clerical staff encourage inclusion for all children, and I see the evidence of this. My boys say it is "cool" to be smart here, there is no dumbing down of the student body by the stereotypical "dumb jock" syndrome. So far, it has been an extremely positive experience for our entire family. I encourage students who are interested to visit for the day. I have 2 issues.. Both my sons participate in sports year round and there is not a second bus for after school activities (sadly)...the price you pay for catholic school education. I do not like the new winter uniform. Small things compared to the value of their education.

Having attended public school first, private school was the better. It is true 'You get what you pay for.' Those that go there & bad mouth Mon Don are those who don't give their best- they are not going to hand you a diploma- 'you get what you give.' I think Mon Don is a great school & as I agree for those that stay on the straight path you will leave with great hopes for your future. As in any place you go, work/school, there will always be cliques, drugs & alcohol, & mean people you just have to decide what path you choose. All in all, academically Mon Don is great & starting out as a scared freshman not sure what to expect, the school staff & faculty were very welcoming! Thank you Mon Don!
