Sea Girt Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

The culture of SGES has gradually changed over the past three years with the transition of a new principal. Generally, the school is more concerned with compliant children and their PARCC scores than it is with the well being, happiness, and learning potential of each child. Children are not treated equally, and instead, certain children are treated with preferential treatment based on their parents' relationship with the administration. I strongly recommend that if you are considering this school for your children that you become as involved as possible, perhaps running for a seat on the School Board or taking on a leadership position within the school. Several families and faculty have left the school due to the challenging school environment. It's a very sad situation because SGES could be a gem of a school with its resources, facilities, and genuine care from the community and instead it's a school run by a disingenuous, controlling administrator.

Clearly, the last review of this school was written by an administrator. Anyone who knows what has transpired in the Sea Girt School over the last two-plus years knows things have taken a sharp turn for the worse. School climate is HORRIBLE. Just ask any faculty member or parent. Parents are now very unwelcome in the school. Anyone thinking of moving to the district for the school should do their homework. Also for the THIRD time in FIVE years, the school is once again turning over its child study team. We went from shared services with Manasquan and Spring Lake to the resignation, just this week, of the current in-house director of special ed. Taxpayers and parents and prospective homeowners should take note of what is going on in the district and board of education members need to get their heads out of the sand. Very sad what has happened.

SGES provides an amazing learning experience for our children in an inclusive and technologically advanced environment. The administration and teachers know every student and their families and provide a unique learning plan for each student. It also has a great tuition program at a very reasonable fee.

Sea Girt Elementary provides our children an amazing learning atmosphere with exceptional teachers. The class sizes are very small and the community involvement at all levels is extraordinary. We couldn't ask for a better place for our children to prepare themselves for academic excellence and the school is one of the main reasons we chose to live in Sea Girt.

Buyers Beware! Sea Girt Elementary School, once known for its academic excellence, has become mediocre at best.. Many neighboring districts continue to surpass Sea Girt in all academic areas. Read http://education.state.nj.us/pr/ report carefully. The administration,( Superintendent/principal, Business Admin. & Board of Ed.) Is an organization inclined to conceal the data. They will not disclose information regarding lawsuits, legal costs, and Special Ed issues. The lack of an accelerated curriculum proves particularly deficient, as Sea Girt does not have a high admission rate into the highly competitive vocational schools. Class size is on the smaller side which fosters exclusion & bullying. Enrollment has decreased due to the poor administration. Many fine tenure teachers have left and the administration has chosen not to conduct exit interviews.
