The school has its ups and downs. I attended it for exactly one year before I had to move to Texas. The pros: the teachers can be very helpful, supportive, and passionate about teaching. There is a very wide range of clubs and sports after school, and the people in them are quite open and friendly. Discrimination and bullying are honestly next-to-nonexistent here; while the population is mainly Asian, we will rarely comment on race. Of course, African Americans tend to stick together, as do caucasians (the “popular” group) and others. There are really no serious cliques; everyone is nice to everyone although we tend to sit in certain groups at lunch. The school has a nice lunch system where everyone eats at the same time and seniors can receive passes to drive themselves out for food. Many freshmen also befriend the upperclassmen. Our choir, band, and orchestra are quite serious and formal, although we do have our fun. There are also plenty of other electives to choose from.Cons: There are some teachers who “don’t teach”, meaning their material is difficult to understand for more students. I was unlucky enough to have two of these teachers. The school is also incredibly competitive; it is not the kind where you would show a friend a D-grade on a test and laugh about it; you are more likely to bury yourself in a hole than do that. Good grades seem to be everything at this school, although this does not necessarily mean tests are more difficult, simply that you would need to study hard and pay attention so you can ensure a good grade. The schedule is also a bit difficult to get used to - you have 6 periods in a day, an hour each, and you “drop” two classes each day. The next day you go to those two classes and drop two different classes. There is an A, B, C, and D day, along with a Z or Zero day where you have all your classes in one day. The school itself is quite easy to get around, though; there is an A wing where the carpet color changes at the back of the school and all classrooms 200 and above are upstairs. There is a swimming unit which I disliked; it is required with few exceptions in every year you take gym. There aren’t no real tests though, you simply have to endure the activities and shower and change in 15-20 minutes.Overall, the school is very nice. It can definitely be confusing and difficult at times, but it is a really nice school.

Went here. Highly competitive student body that forces you to study and work harder. Teachers are good.

Our child attends this school. Teachers are hit and miss. New school where focus is our test scores only! We also take our other child to the YWCA Program that uses the pool. He has attended since the fall, 8 months and you would think the Principal could walk his school to see a hole in the Boys Locker Room that is 2 ft by 3 ft. As I said, no focus other than insuring test scores meet funding standards. We have friends whose children attend South and rave about it. Keep clear of this school.

As a student, I believe West Windsor North hones in on students who are over achieving. There is underlying racism, where Caucasians and African Americans are given less of an opportunity than the Asian population from the faculty. However, most students are open to other cultures. The administration is horrific! They can care less about the students and talk to them as if they are incompetent. The faculty can careless about students as well, unless youre outspoken or getting As. Most students here cheat and many teachers could care less. This is probably why the school has such high ratings. Everything is a competition. Many students apply to ivy leagues and constantly rave about them getting scholarships to places like Princeton or Brown. Counselors do not regularly check in with students who are applying for colleges or who are struggling. The idea of "Self-directed learning" is prominent. This makes most teachers lazy, only showing "educational videos" during class periods, speaking from experience. Most AP classes are also "self-directed" which means, as a student, I learn less from my teachers and frequently have to pay for tutoring. Overall this school is just okay.

Nah As a student who actually attends the environment is pretty awful. The teachers don't care, the school is a blue ribbon school because a lot of smart kids go to North and work crazy hard. If the same students that go to North went to another school, that school would have a blue ribbon too.
