St. Aloysius Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

Seriously time for an overhaul. Teachers, principal, PTA. Teachers lack enthusiasm & creativity in the classroom. Not every child can learn from a book. Need more s.t.e.m advancement for the children so they have an opportunity to compete with other schools. Gym is more then dodge ball. Teach about other sports. Spanish/Art need an actual curriculum. Time to get into 2015 to keep up with other schools. After school activities need to be more then 1 hour once a month. Sports program needs someone who cares & will be there for the children. Need some type of aftercare tutoring like other schools in the area. There are enough student teachers at the local colleges, tap into them. My child is thriving, but needs more stimulation. What happened to science experiments? If you are not a buddy to the teacher, they have no time for you. Summer school is a money making scam. Child went for 4 weeks, had a b in summer school, failed on final report card? Principal couldn't answer how this happened. Time to change fundraising programs, not everyone can sell $600 worth of over priced stuff. PTA is a click same people year after year.

My daughter is in 1rst grade, and doesn't learn anything. The class is unorganized, and they have a very slow curriculum. The teachers have no patience with the kids, and don't have the proper ability to teach. They are often seen yanking the kids back and forth, very impatient with them. The Spanish class is the only thing that is good. All other subjects are very lacking. As for improving itself, it's too far gone for that. They should at least prepare the students ahead of time before big exams instead of making them cram it all in one week before hand. The principals are good at managing the school itself, but the teachers are very careless, when it comes to teaching the children. They often seem to complain about the students, rather than actually take care of them and encourage them to try harder. I would not recommend this school to others.

The teachers are all wonderful. They care for the children and create an environment free of judgment, bullies and ridicule. The ideal environment for a child to be free of distractions and insecurities in order to learn. However, when it comes down to teaching the curriculum is very old school, not challenging enough and not up to par with what is being taught in the area schools. And, to make matters worse the teachers (while nice) lack the passion to be innovative enough to engage their students in their lessons. Its all paper after paper. They don't encourage enough reading either. Very few projects. Also, gym is skipped just about every other week. They advertise on their billboard and website that they offer Spanish but during Spanish class they play Dora movies for the children over and again rarely showing another movie. Either way, Its not a Spanish class. The security in this school is a real issue. I have made it into the school a few times and realized how easy it can be for someone to walk in and hide in the bathrooms or in the hallways. The school calls too many days off. Actually, when the mother of the Vice Principal passed away class was cancelled the next day.

This school is above average. The teachers are caring and go above and beyond. They have so many extracurricular activities, from sports to clubs. The standard of education outstanding. I would highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a great school!!!
