Well starting off at 2017, I, a student who goes there HATES it. Teachers give so much homework, PILES of homework, and when you do it, they don't check it. Teachers look at it if you did it, but they don't care if you actually put the right answer or not. And the manners of peers there? AWFUL. Especially the bigger grades. It all starts to get dramatic at the fifth grade. Everyone there curses, says racial slurs, and don't even bother to get a care for the world. But y'know, I been really comfortable with the school. Some people are actually nice, and the new principal, Mr. Brower, is really funny other than the previous principal who worked here. I never really got to see her since I didn't attend the school, but I been hearing bad reviews about her. SOME teachers are nice, and you're lucky if you have a nice one.Now this year they changed things, and we switch classes during some periods. I heard third grade peers have three classes while 4-8 graders have two classes. It's pretty good, and things have changed a lot for the best. But not all of them.

The school does not care about the kids at all. Student vs teacher ratio is very bad. My put my kid to school in the middle of the session, but teacher does not even bother to take care about kids in the beginning. She preferred another kids to let the new kid to adopt the school culture or allow them to teach. The excuse they have is that they can not focus on an individual kids.

I went to P.S 17 from K-3rd grade! I loved the time I spent there. It was a great learning experience. I wish to have come back but I'm already in High School. My favorite teacher ever was Mrs. Sanchez! I miss her so much! My music and art teacher were great there too! If I could contact them again, I'd love it with every bit of my heart!

There is no real pre-k criteria, students are generally being observed not taught. My child everyday informs me that she naps, sings and plays with blocks and on the contrary I believe students should be taught how to identify & write their letters, numbers; learn the pronounciation of these letters etc...these are pre-kindergarten activities. In daycare my child was taught her colors and how to write. I feel as if she is still in daycare minus the learning.
