Theres only one teacher i know that cares about us. so therefore, DO NOT send your child to carteret middle school.

For a small borough Carteret offers a good school system, I agree with the blogger that said the Board of Ed needs some improvement. What doesn't? but to lable the schools or the teachers as mediocre is a high injustice. Sure its CASA program may have some flaws, but no other town in the area offeres free aftercare that gets kids involved in sports and other activities and clubs (after their homework is done, with people who would actually tutor when he had a question). My son loved it, he blossomed physicaly and academically. I saw grades go from B's and C's to A's and B's. I never herd my son say that teachers would text during class. How would that parent know? Yes, the shool system may not be perfect, but look at the number of students that actually graduate with honors. Not at a disgrunteled parent that would rather blame the school, than to look where the real problem lyes. I'm not saying it's the child, but maybe it is, and many parents take what their kids say as the only truth, because it's easier than facing thge real truth. For a small town it's pretty good, better than some rich towns I know, where any after school program you pay thru the nose.

My son went to Minue School and now Carteret Middle School and has maintain his Honors. I heard so many bad things about the school that I was worried. 1 thing I like is that I can go online everyday and see my son s progress, grades, and email any of his teachers from there. I've met really nice teachers and my son was moved to an advance algebra class. Every semester the children with good grade get a breakfast to recognized them and give them their Honor Roll cert. I've know teachers that go early before school opens to help those kids having issues with subjects. I cannot speak for the past years but I know that so far for my 12 yrs old son is ok. My husband and I work, I've no need for after school program but My son went to the CASA program and for those kids that are good students and parents can t afford after school prgms is an advantage since It is for FREE unlike many schools out there that charge or State has cut funds and got rid of them. Education starts at home and it is reinforced at Home at the end of the day. No matter what school your kids go to make sure that your children know that you have an open communication with the teachers and that you are involve.
