I'm a parent who's children goes to burlington city high school, that schools is a joke everyday my child has a problems, like being bullied, children fighting her in halways, children throwing food in her hair. What a chlid to do. Just because you have a title dont make you perfect teachers, principal, guildance counselors all they do is sweep things under the rug , I'm a very upset parent, I feel in this day in age teachers are not taking time out for children, so, I'm not rating the teachers nor anybody else

What an exciting time to join the Burlington City High School community! They are hitting the ground running this 2013-14 school year. The staff, with their energetic new principal definitely were not just sunning themselves at the beach during this past summer. Many great initiatives were shared during "Back to School Night"! Flags with the school mascot and colors adorned the outside of the building to encourage students to come where Blue Devil pride would greet them every day. College pennants and banners lined the hallways to encourage students to dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams. $5000.00 would be a blessing to a school who is focused on supporting their community and student achievement! Good Luck Blue Devils!

I went to Burling city schools my entire life. Graduating in 2008 I went to one of the top rated public colleges in the country and was sorely dissapointed at the lack of diversity and chartacter I recieved from burlington. I worked hard and played varsity sports and was highly involved in the music department (the only thing that kept me at that school). AP classes were a complete joke and a majority of kids I know who took AP tests in English, Government, and History were wofully unprepared. There are some phenomenal teachers and some teachers who would be fired were it not for tenure. There were large numbers of students who disrupted the learning environment for the kids who tried to learn. Not to mention the lack of up to date materials and work materials. And perhaps more sad was the number of students I graduated with who could not read on a 6th Grade level. Exceptionally sad and would not send my children there after spending my entire k-12 career there.

This school is seriously lacking in academics. I have hired 4 graduates to work for my company and none of them can spell, write a correct sentence, or do simple math (even on a calculator). The students obviously do not learn the skills to go out into the world. How do you write a college essay if you cannot spell and know no grammar?

Burlington City High School is fantastic! The teachers are commited, the classrooms are functional learning enviroments, modern-day learning tools are readily available, there are great computer labs, the library is very up to date, and the curriculum that is offered could bang with every public education system in New Jersey easily. If you are a parent who wants the best for their child, then you should show no hesitation in becoming a Blue Devil mom, dad, guardian, etc. The other comments don't seem to point out a great advantage BCHS has in being a group 1 school: the student to faculty ratio. The music program is also very noteworthy as other reviews have indicated but please do not overlook the consistency of the athletic program. Student athletes with great character are not uncommon at all! Plus, facilities are immaculant, especially the weight room. The pros outweigh the cons at City.
