Very good, my son enjoyed school and its curriculum. Staff is supportive and kind.

I agree with the review from 10/23/12. Our son has special needs and over the summer, prior to his entering 5th grade, we forwarded all his information and recommendations from the counselor at JFK to the IKE office. Well, 2 months in we get an email from his teacher (since of course they don't actually MEET with parents anymore) that our son is having certain problems. Well, we find out that the teachers never got the information about our son's needs. The counselor gave a half-assed excuse why it wasn't done. Meanwhile our son is struggling, they refuse to help him, and midway through the year he's removed from his math class and thrown on another. At JFK he was gettings all A's, and this year at IKE he's struggling for C's. Let me tell you, it's not HIM, it's the SCHOOL. Our daughter, one grade older, had a similar experience, but since she's not special needs, it hasn't been to this degree. The school's response -- "They're only here for 2 years, so there's not much we can do." Really? We've talked with other parents and our experience isn't unique. Some are even considering moving out of the district . There is something seriously wrong with this school.

There is a serious lack of communication between district staff specfically when it comes to special needs students. Teachers do not communicate well with students. One teacher in particular in the 5th grade answered a request for help with "Yeah and i need a million dollars" the same teacher refused to meet with the parent to discuss the issue. The Principal does not return phone calls. The Pschologists and guidance counselors between Eisenhower and Van Holten fail to share information regarding students with special needs. As a result homeschooling becomes the solution.
