We pulled our child out recently, and felt the need to share our experience. Since we transferred our son out and transitioned into private school, we realized that math and reading skills are months behind than what he is doing now. We had to put some extra time in to fill in the gap that herbertsville gave to him. The school has a terrible approach to bullying. The teachers become enablers, as they just sit on their hands and do nothing, but continue to allow the bullying to go on. The part that had us completely and totally fed up with the school was that they always found a way to rationalize the bullying. My nephew was punched in the shoulder, but the teacher said " well, he was out of his seat" (Great, so, we are normalizing physical harassment, typical blameshift). We experienced this with more than one teacher, so sadly this is the model at this school. The previous principal is out, and there is an interim principal for the moment. No hope in the horizon. We have to say we are very happy our son is in private school now. Best part is, he actually gets homework now. My advice, do your homework on the school. Ask the neighborhood, you will always get the same answer "it's a small school, as close to private school as you can get." Some choose to live in a bubble, and convince them this school is decent.

The PTA is so focused on building a new playground yet a majority of the classrooms have no AC. Their priorities are backwards and extremely concerning.

My wife and I feel that this school is put on a pedestal by some because of it's size. We cannot figure out anymore reasons as to why this school seems to be praised by some. There is a lack of homework, after school activities, PTA communication. We have had it with this school once we looked up the standardized test scores. The school is performing below average. The class sizes seem to keep growing at a rapid pace. We're not even sure what the capacity is at the school. We have not been satisfied with our experience at this school.

We had issues not being able to communicate with the teachers or principal. There is a lack of activities for the children compared to some of the other local schools. There is a communication barrier in this school.
