I feel lucky to be zoned for this school. I primarily moved to this area for the reputation Herbertsville has. I haven't been let down! My child has made major advancements, teachers are engaging and make themselves readily available to parents, loads of PTA sponsored events, etc. My child is thriving and happy!

All 3 of kids went to Herbertsville Elementary, having moved here from North Jersey this school was a big difference, the class sizes were smaller and the teachers and principal know every single kid by name. It’s a very caring and nurturing environment. They have lots of after-school activities for the family’s to interact. All of my kids always say there days at Herbertsville will always be there best memories. They are now in middle school and high school. I’ve seen comments below regarding the PTA, keep in mind those are volunteers and are open to anyone and they change yearly as there kids leave elementary school. Most times, I’ve seen a only handful of people at the meetings. I’m sure they’d love for more to attend.

The PTA is a clueless group of a clique. If you don’t fit into their mold- forget being notified about events going on at the school. I really feel that the smaller environment of this school is a disadvantage. Shake up the PTA! Teachers are nice and so is the new principal

"We pulled our child out recently, and felt the need to share our experience. Since we transferred our son out and transitioned into private school, we realized that math and reading skills are months behind than what he is doing now. We had to put some extra time in to fill in the gap that herbertsville gave to him. The school has a terrible approach to bullying. The teachers become enablers, as they just sit on their hands and do nothing, but continue to allow the bullying to go on. The part that had us completely and totally fed up with the school was that they always found a way to rationalize the bullying. My nephew was punched in the shoulder, but the teacher said "" well, he was out of his seat"" (Great, so, we are normalizing physical harassment, typical blameshift). We experienced this with more than one teacher, so sadly this is the model at this school. The previous principal is out, and there is an interim principal for the moment. No hope in the horizon. We have to say we are very happy our son is in private school now. Best part is, he actually gets homework now. My advice, do your homework on the school. Ask the neighborhood, you will always get the same answer ""it's a small school, as close to private school as you can get."" Some choose to live in a bubble, and convince them this school is decent."

The PTA is so focused on building a new playground yet a majority of the classrooms have no AC. Their priorities are backwards and extremely concerning.
