I have had a recent incident to which I was not notified properly about. They have been unwilling to work with the situation that my son and I are in. I am a single mom and I was treated very unfairly but the principle. The only redeeming quality is that the teacher involved me more than anyone else. I do not recommend this school at all.

My son is in his 2nd year at Griffith. He attended Kindergarten and is currently finishing up First Grade. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and Aspergers (A spectrum of Autism), he has grown SO much academically at this school. He attends a mainstream classroom and comes home every day excited about what he has learned that day. I have never had any issues with any of the faculty nor either of his teachers. In fact, they were very supportive and had an open-door, open-communication policy with me which I believe is essential in ANY child's education. Yes, the school is very dated in appearance but that's merely cosmetic. You do not need a pretty school for a good education and my son's teachers, the guidance counselor, the principle/assistant principle prove that ten-fold. Also, in regards to the comment below, my son was in a "grouped" classroom, he excels in math but struggles with reading. The groups were made to give extra attention to students who are struggling on a specific subject. The school has a zero tolerance for bullying. This coming school year, the ENTIRE state is conforming to a new national education policy. You can read more about it at www.corestandards.org

My daughter went to Griffith for kindergarten and we LOVED her teacher! Although it is only October, this school year has been horrible with her current teacher. My daughters current teacher has questionable methods of discipline so my daughter has been removed and placed in a MUCH BETTER school within the zone. If your child in in the 1st grade this year, and if their classroom has been segregated into "groups", PLEASE visit the classroom to observe these "groups" and ask about how the "better group" is allowed to vote the outcast children into the class. I had to get the superintendent involved, and even he was shocked to discover what was going on. I did not get the help nor support I wanted from the principal @ Griffith and when asked if I could even have my daughters teacher switched, she told me she "MAY" entertain the notion and we could sit down for a "meeting of the minds", as if I would ever agree with this teachers methods of discipline, so in my eyes there was nothing to "meet " about. My daughter was very unhappy in this classroom and changed from her normal happy bubbly self to constant crying and shutting down emotionally. So glad to be done with these people!!

My nephew went there and learned a great deal. They're committed to education.

This is an older school, but it is bright and clean and the staff are very friendly. My child was in a special education classroom and his teacher, Mrs. Griffith, was very caring and very helpful. She was very loving, supportive, and very dedicated to making sure my child got the best education possible in the time he spent in her class. That means a lot when your child has special needs. He blossomed in her class, but then had to go to another school the next year because the class he needed was not offered at Griffith. He made great progress in her class. I wish he was still in her class.
