We have been at ORE going on 6 years now. Our child is in 5th grade this year and I can honestly say that she has never had a teacher that we didn't like. Every staff member, from Mr. Brookshire and Mr. Suber on down truly care about the kids and want them to succeed. ORE was not our neighborhood school. We toured Jefferson, Meadowlark (well, we tried) and others....ORE was the ONLY school where the principal actually gave the tour himself. Not only that, but he checked back with us and invited us to school functions so that we could see more! Now, I am an active volunteer at ORE and with the PTA and feel like they are family. No cliques, no crazy stuff. THIS is what you want in a school, folks. Go check them out.

The principal is really ridiculous and out of line talking about retaining my child for coloring outside of the lines and he's only in kindergarten second note he also threatened to call CPS because I kept my child out of school when his grandmother passed away. We will not attend next year

I have had 3 children go through Old Richmond Elementary School and I have been more than pleased with the education level they all received. As well as the personal growth I was able to observe with each one, becoming self confident and very secure with their selves. Old Richmond has always had the best teachers for education and helping a child become all they can.

We moved from Arizona this year and I couldn't be more impressed with ORES. My children are very happy here even though they are expected to be polite and responsible and respectful. Kindness is huge here :) The staff are proficient in what they do and the principal will go out of his way to help. Moving from AZ my daughter was not up to par for 2nd grade being the youngest in her class. On the first day of school I kept her out and spoke to the office staff and they said it wouldn't be problem keeping her in 2nd grade again especially because it fit with her age. The principal greeted me and my daughter and was wonderful in placing her in a 2nd grade class within 15 minutes on the first day of school! I was really impressed with her teacher also. She is a very hands on teacher which is awesome and she is learning so much this year even though she is repeating the grade. I have a first grader who had serious anxiety in kindergarten, but is thriving here! And my 4th grader who is usually board is being challenged by his regular teacher and his AG teacher who we love! Great school because of high standards and values and a staff to go along with it!

We moved from out-of-state at the end of my daughter's kindergarten year and chose our home largely because of how much ORE's staff and principal impressed us. Staff are dedicated, caring, well-supported, have very low turn-over/attrition, and give attention to each child's needs. Our daughter's first grade teacher was the absolute BEST--experienced, approachable, excited, and absolutely a joy. I would recommend ORE to ANYONE moving to the Winston-Salem area!
