Our community is lucky to have such an awesome school. Teachers teach kids how to think, not what to think. My son has done fantastic his four years there. And Mr. Robinson is commited to the students and improving our education system. You simply cannot go wrong with Discovery.

Great school. My daughter loves it there. The teachers are really good and give a lot of individual attention to the kids.

A lot of weird stuff happens here and not every student is treated the same. Some of the policies are weird and outrageous. The principal isn't productive and just walks around with his phone all day. Some of the teachers don't care about a student's grade in their class. Some teachers do a good job teaching and some teachers don't teach at all. We don't learn anything here because all we get is worksheets and middle school projects to do. The school needs to be remodeled and there are some holes in the floor. The school is supposed to be "Norms Only," but there are way too many rules as well. Some of the teachers discriminate against some of the students and make unacceptable jokes about them. It is sad when students learn more from one student than they do from the teacher. The serving portions of the food aren't enough to fill students up. The school hold intelligent people back and lacks a lot of AP classes. The school doesn't have sports, so i don't know why the school claims that it does. The school is an example as to why we rank 38th as a state in education.

The science and social sciences at Discovery are very questionable. Quite a significant amount of time in class is spent doing worksheets on computers which I assume is what they mean by "21st century education." More over, two specific teachers seem to hardly care. All of their lectures in class consist of powerpoints taken from other teachers and not rehearsed. They read off the slide and expect students to get the material they need from that. The English department is almost worth it, as the English teachers have a clear drive for teaching the students, as well as learning from them. I have no gripes about the Math departments. Discovery, has a significant lack of AP classes, especially compared to near by schools. This can really hurt a high preforming student, and I highly recommend if you plan on taking a full AP scheduled, to attend a high school with proper funding and departments. Overall, the cons of certain members of the Staff do not outweigh the pros of other members. Therefore, I will mark it on the end part of the 5 star scale.
