Together we learn, live and serve. This school isn’t just for the students. It’s for the families also. LNC has a Serve 10 that allows each family serve 10 hrs of volunteering each year at the school. They want the families to invest and know about the school their child attends. My son loves it a LNC and has grown so much this past year. Great parent involvement and teachers and staff are always friendly and wanting to help in anyway.

Caring and dedicated families and teachers make up a great school and this is what LNCharter has. This is not your typical public high school where parents treat it as a babysitting service! No, sir/ma'am. As a parent, you will be involved, not just for providing transportation, which in itself is an admirable effort on ALL parents. Everyone is expected to contribute time and talent. LNCharter has the most dedicated teachers I have ever seen. The admin and board are very conservative with their spending so they can provide the most competitive public school teacher salaries === which means, the school attracts the best teachers around!! Even though they make more money than most of their CMS counterparts, I feel that they deserve a whole lot more! Kids are great. They are respectful, thoughtful, and a bright group of children. No, they are not perfect. But, no schools or families have such claim. We are a minority in the school, but we are not treated any differently by the parents, admin, or students. We just belong!! The school has not been consistently ranked one of the highest in the nation, entire U.S.A., 2nd in the whole state of NC for nothing! That's a lot of dedicated teachers, admin, parents, and students! And, it's free! It's a public school with a private school feel. No bureaucracies from CMS! They operate independently and can be creative with their curriculum! Go Knights!!

I couldn't agree more with the prior comments about the experience for boys at the MS. If you are the parent of an active, curious, independent young male who doesn't fit the traditional (aka outdated, intolerant, "sit in your seat" and "never question authority") academic model, then this is NOT the school for you! For students like this, LNC is oppressive and punitive. Despite their oft repeated slogans, they seem to want followers NOT leaders. Many of the teachers are "lifers" and too much a part of the toxic environment for there to be any hope for real change. The school might look good on paper, but a discerning mind knows that test scores have limited prognostic utility, statistics are easily manipulated, and public accolades are fluff. The daily reality for many students, especially males, is totally unacceptable. I'm just waiting for the media to expose the inadequacies at LNC and force it to live up to its full charter for all types of students.

School has a diversity issue. Most students lack sensitivity of all their fellow classmates. Some of them do not seem to be aware that there is a world of diversity and tolerance outside of Huntersville, NC. Academically your child can be pushed, however this is bubble environment with bubble mentality so if you want your student to spend their formative years in such an environment , this is the place for you. Also a lot of underage drinking and smoking.

This school is good if you have a "perfect academic child." It is NOT the place to be if you have a gifted child with a learning disability. Lacks empathy for those children and too inflexible with different learning styles. Huge self-esteem deflater for our child.
