I am thankful that Caldwell has partnered with us in educating our children. I know we have some great schools in our area, public and private, but I cannot imagine us being anywhere else. I know that when they leave Caldwell they will have skills to move forward independently into the next stage of their education as well as life. It will not be easy, it's not easy now, but I am confident they will have a foundation of truth. They will be well prepared to listen to other ideas and opinions and seek information and truth and not be easily persuaded by popular opinion, the easier way or just plainly what feels good. They will have respect for others and themselves. I remember sitting in the hallway of Caldwell prior to our tour and watching how students interacted with one another as well as looking us in the eye and interacting with adults they did not know. These same type of students are still at Caldwell 10 years later. I remember watching the older children of friends that were at Caldwell and hoping that my children would be as respectful, well-rounded and in love with God. We have run into parents with children in graduate and post-graduate school that previously were at Caldwell and they tell my high school student the work is hard but it is worth it-their children were so well prepared for the work after high school. I would send my children to Caldwell again if given the choice.

The school today is very different from what it was years ago. Poor decision making and a failure to adapt to the current environment has certainly let us down. Caldwell's board and Head of School are unable to see and understand that their inflexible nature is what is driving students and families away. High School students that would likely get A's in the public schools have to work three times as hard to maintain the same GPA at Caldwell in the exact same level subjects. All the while, the staff tells parents that every college knows that a C at Caldwell is the same as an A in the public schools. They honestly are drinking the KoolAid. The curriculum is not challenging. The piles upon piles of homework and absolute inflexibilty and willingness to bend to insure concepts are grasped is just astonishing. Instead, the Board and Head of School have taken the school down the road of a $13 million capital campaign to insure that we have a proper theater. Meanwhile we can't get textbooks that aren't falling apart. We are still here because our kids don't want to leave their friends. The day the kids say that they have just had enough of the lack of grace amongst teachers and staff as well as enough of the ridiculously "hard" not challenging inundation of piles of homework just to give the illusion of a challenging curriculum, we are out. When we first came to Caldwell, the school touted a 100% participation rate in their annual fundraising drive. Now, they are begging parents to just give a dollar to the campaign to juice the participation rate to better appeal to their fundraising efforts. Caldwell needs to take a step back and make the changes necessary to get enrollment up as opposed to building a shrine to the Board with an expectation that a new building will reverse the enrollment trend. The board needs business men and women in the most urgent sense.

I have had two children attend Caldwell. The classical approach instills a love for learning, an ability to think independently, write effectively and persuasively, and speak publicly. The Christian component enables my children to study literature, history, and science from a Biblical worldview. Caldwell is not affiliated with any one church, which allows students to meet other students from churches all over the greater Greensboro area. The teachers strive for excellence and foster relationships with their students. The campus is lovely, well-maintained and expanding. Our experience has been wonderful.

Our children have attended Caldwell Academy for the last 7 years. The mission of Caldwell Academy is to assist parents from a biblical perspective by providing a classical and Christian education. What first attracted us to Caldwell was that the students were being taught from a biblical world view. We did not understand what teaching ΓÇ£classically ΓÇ£meant. Now that we understand and have seen the fruits of a classical education, we are fully convinced that a classical education is the best way to educate a child. We are so thankful that our children have this opportunity in Greensboro. We know without a doubt that when our children graduate from Caldwell, they are not only fully prepared for college but for a lifetime of learning. We fully intend for our children to graduate from Caldwell.

I am an alumni of Caldwell Academy and can say with absolute sincerity that the teachers, curriculum, and experiences Caldwell provided me propelled me to success in ways I could have never imagined. I attended CA for 13 years, all the way Kindergarten through 12th grade. Looking back, I realize that I may not have appreciated it for all that it gave. The teachers and staff exhibit a genuine love and dedication to their students and consistently go above and beyond. Most importantly, the classical and Christ centered education is unparalleled. The love and truth of Christ is absolutely central to their values and curriculum, and the leadership at CA emulate that love. It is a TRULY outstanding school. I am looking forward to the opportunity to one day send my own children. The lessons, experiences and values that I obtained are unforgettable and truly invaluable!
