The teachers don't care, neither does stuff. Kids walking around sitting in classes they don't belong in, calling teachers names, bulling kids, stealing things from other kids . I'm so sick of this school pulling my kids out this school. If ur a parent that really cares about ur kids education do not send them to this school

smith has great Ib program and some of the kids there are nice and sweet and the teachers take the time to stay after school until 8/9 pm to help you with whatever you need if you simply just ask and sometimes it doesn't have to be for school wise if something is going on and you have no one to turn to you can just ask one of your teachers to stay after just to talk and they will. People tend to blame SMITH(a building) the TEACHERS but will not blame the students. The teachers can only do so much if the child is in gang violence, does not care about their education, disrespectful to the teacher and those around him who is to blame but the student. everyone blames smith, smith is just a building that got the name . and there are EXTREMLY great people there and it all about what you child wants to do. if they want to go with the bad people no one is holding a weapon to their head its THEIR choice . you choose your path not others . if you want help the teachers are more than willing to help. I've seen students that are disrespectful to the teacher every single day they walk in the class but will still ask for the teachers help and will get it .

I wanted to rate it bad. But I put average because there are a few teachers that do care. There is violence and gang activity. My daughter found a bullet laying on the floor of the gym. These kids are able to talk back, yell and cuss at the teachers without getting in trouble. I can go on, but this will turn into a novel.

I would like to know why my grandson is only taking 4 classes. This does not seem as if he is being properly prepared for the future. If education is supposed to be the same for all students, why is this happening? He is in the 9th grade. How can this school expect to ever be on the "Best Schools" list if it doesn't provide the proper educational challenges for the students?
