We moved here from Ohio and were unfortunately assigned to Sherwood Park. My daughter is in Kindergarten and was being taught things she had already learned in preschool at her previous school. My son went from being on the honor roll at the number 2 ranked school in the entire state of Ohio and being placed in gifted/advanced classes to not being able to finish tests or assignments because he did not understand with how things were being taught (or I should say, not being taught). When he would try to get clarification from his teacher she would basically blow him off and not help, which led to him coming home from school, almost daily, upset and frustrated. Too much emphasis is put into their extremely juvenile color coding behavior chart than in trying to raise a generation of intelligent and knowledgeable children. The homework being sent home is a joke, I don't even know why they bother. I have removed my children from this school and suggest to other parents to please do a major service to your child's future and do whatever necessary to not send your kid here, homeschooling would be a more effective education than this place offers.

I have two girls, I sent the older one to Honeycutt Elementary but I did not like their PreK program there. Then the next year I sent them both to SWPE and it was great. Their PreK program was great my little one came out of her shell, b/c she was so shy. She learn so much there, and my older one learned how to read fast and she was considered for the discovery program. Then the next year both of my girls got into the discovery program which made their mom and dad proud. As parents we cannot just leave it to the teachers to teach them we have to be involve in our children education. Many people may complain about the school but many times is not the school it is also the parents who need to step up their game and spend time with their children.

Sherwood Park is an exceptional school. I feel like my children are getting a fantastic education going here and the teachers and principal really care about them. They are extremely active in keeping in contact with parents and making sure that we know what is going on. There is always school activities to do for the kids with parents. I am so impressed by this school and their academic program and their care of my children.

This is the most wonderful school ever! The staff is kind and helpful and the teachers really care for their students. There are always fun school events with parent involvement all the time. The principle is awesome!

The administration is patrioizing and just plain rude at times. Teachers are NOT fairly evaluated based on their ability and are NEVER reprimanded for being rude and disrespectful to their students. The PTO does not activley get parents involved. I am SOOO thankful that my children with be attending a new elementary school this year. The one shining star at the school in 2nd grade teacher Ms. Kurnat!
