Great school so far, this is my childs second year at RMS and she loves it. Our only complaint is there is way too much homework considering that school gets out late and some students get home close to 6pm, there is no family time or time to relax the mind after school!! 7th grade homework is way too much.......

I am currently a student at Randolph, with one year left, and it has not met my expectations. There is too much homework, I don't learn enough in class because people are talking too much and the teachers have to deal with them. In seventh grade, my math teacher spent most of her time telling people to stop talking! I'm an honor roll student, consistently earning As and high Bs, as well as 5s on my EOGs, and this school does not support high-achieving kids. Usually the teachers focus their attention on the kids who are struggling to keep up, while students like me sit there bored, just waiting for it to be over. Then we go home and have to do a lot of busy work that we should be doing in class, not at home! Teachers don't seem to get that with each of them giving us 30 minutes of homework per night, we can end up with as many as four hours per night. We get to use the bathroom three times per week, and get a drink of water three times a week only. This is a new school rule this year, and I don't think most of the parents even know about it. I know they weren't told because when I told my Mom, she had never heard anything about it. I think parents should know if the school sets rules like that about how often their kids can do something basic like go to the bathroom! My favorite classes have been ELA and Latin, but they don't let us take Latin for the whole year, just one semester. The other semester I took PE, which is strange to me. Shouldn't we take PE all year? Also, one time a kid brought a gun to school and our grade didn't know about it until kids who saw the Principal running down the hall saying "The 7th graders are safe" told us. There have also been protests at the school, with kids who support BLM forming a mob, marching down the hall chanting "Black Lives Matter" over and over, making a lot of noise and preventing other kids from getting to class on time. If kids have clubs or sports to do, they probably won't have time to get their homework done. Overall, this is not a great school unless you can get into Horizons. Kids who don't make it into that program, but who qualify for "Honors" like I do, are not going to be challenged very much, except when they try to finish their piles of homework, and only because it's usually a repeat of what we do in class. One of my teachers gave us the same homework done two weeks in a row.
