I have been a parent since 2013 and have been pleased with the growth here at MPTS. Our school wouldn't be what it is today without the leadership and faculty that own the success of our kids on a daily basis. I'm a proud MPTS Mom.

Our experience with MPTS is more amazing than we could have ever expected. Our daughter's kindergarten teacher last year, Ms. Sherry, was energetic and forward thinking. Our child got exactly what she needed and much much more. This year she has another amazing teacher who does yoga with the children to help them transition and her communication skills are outstanding. MPTS has a family feel to it...any time I walk down the hallway atleast 3 people greet me. The teachers and administration are so passionate about contributing to the growth and nurturing of these young minds. The PTA is outstanding and parents are involved with supporting the school in so many positive ways. Deciding where your child should attend school can be very stressful. You want to make the best choice for your child. We are so thrilled to be a part of this fantastic school and we know we made the right choice for our child.

We considered both private and many magnet schools in Charlotte. We were accepted into private schools and another magnet program in CMS before learning that we had a spot at MPTS. After touring again, we realized that MPTS was where we wanted our child to attend school. Children attending MPTS are so incredibly lucky - they not only get to participate in six different specials, learn from awesome teachers, have the support of a great admin team and PTA, but they are learning so many life-lessons from their peers. What's magical about a FULL magnet school is that children come from all over Mecklenburg county - not from the same neighborhood, zip code, or SES. They realize that not everyone is alike, but yet, we can all live together and most importantly being kind will get you so far in life. Bravo to Myers Park Traditional for preparing our future leaders of America. I cannot imagine a better place for my child and my family.

I taught at this school for 20 years. The staff is very "clicky" and unwelcoming to new staff. I never fit in so I was basically alone - which was safer. The younger teachers wouldn't have anything to do with the older teachers. The former principal ran off all the older teachers. I felt pressured to leave. My child also went to MPTE K-5. She hated it. She felt like if your family didn't have a lot of money, you didn't fit in. I agree and have heard this from other students. Her biggest memory of MPTE was when her 4th grade teacher leaned over to her during the state writing test and told her that SHE WOULD FAIL 4TH GRADE IF SHE DIDN'T DO BETTER THAN THAT. What a memory of something that should have been happy. Had I known at the time that this happened, I would have taken the matter to the superintendent. The parents.......some of the parents look down on other parents. A lot of elitism. ALL of the parents think their children do no wrong and blame the teacher for everything.Working here was a thankless job and made me feel like my whole career was a waste.
