Asheville School provides a community that is inclusive. Our child continues to thrive and grow academically and socially. When we visit, the other students are warm and friendly towards us and each other. It is a warm and uplifting to see how quickly the students bond with one another as well as the faculty.

My son attended this school as a boarder with a very small financial aid which means we still paid a lot more than the day students. There is strong bias towards students and some received support other support learning their independent way and others were victims of school administration politics. Their refusal to treat a sports trauma also resulted it taking our son out prematurely which lead to more difficulty in his life. No child deserves ignorance and bad treatment leading to destruction. We believed that the school supports all the same way and acts on behalf of the parents when needed on a daily basis in the boarding setting.

I am in my fourth year at Asheville School and have loved the experience as a whole. Getting to try new sports like swimming and track and new activities through clubs like Robotics and Investment has been fantastic, and given my skills I can carry beyond Asheville School. Granted, not every school is perfect, and Asheville has its downsides. The dorms are older, and the rules can feel restrictive at times. Asheville School isn't the perfect place for everyone, but it is still a fantastic place to spend four years of your life. Not every teacher will be fantastic, and at some times you may butt heads with people on your hall or around campus. Most of the time, however, your teachers will be willing to help you however they can, and make sure you succeed, as will your friends.

As student who came to Asheville School believing in the community that the Admissions Office preached, I was horrified when I discovered the reality. Teachers are highly unprofessional and do not care about the students. When teachers act unethically or unprofessionally and those behaviors/attitudes are reported, the administration simply refuses to believe the truth and takes no disciplinary measures on the professional. Teachers are not held to the same standards as students as they have no dress code, no ethical code, and no boundaries as to the way they treat their students. Despite this, I'll be the first to admit there are great teachers at Asheville School and they have made my experience meaningful. The fact is that bad teachers, unprofessionals who flatly refuse to teach or help students, are the majority. Good teachers are constantly leaving the school, leaving the student body unhappier each year as we are left to deal with unacceptable behaviors with no adults or legal aid to turn to when things get ugly.
