"I spent a substantial amount of time comparing Flathead and Glacier in 8th grade, primarily the AP and IB programs. In the end, I am extremely satisfied with my decision to attend Glacier. I have taken full advantage of everything the school had to offer, from AP and Honors to Engineering to thirteen extracurriculars (not all at once). Glacier has an activity for everyone, regardless of whether you participate in athletics. Incredibly, over 10% of students will compete in speech and debate many years. There really is no attendance policy at Glacier. The only ""consequence"" you can receive for missing school is being required to attend Academic Catch-up Day (actually very helpful). While I was always grateful for the freedom this gave my to participate in activities, it puts teachers in an awkward position when they have to follow the handbook and accept work after a number of absences, even if it is extremely late. I admit that I took advantage of this policy too much and I will definitely have to adapt my study skills in college and the real world. Even unexcused absences are often unmarked, and I have never received any more discipline than a stern warning and some guilt from a teacher regarding missing or arriving late to class. Arguably, there are natural consequences to missing instruction and those become evident in the gradebook but this is another place where the teachers are put in a difficult position by a lack of effective rules. That being said, most of the classes feel valuable enough to motivate students to attend. If you ever have the chance to take a class taught by Mr. Morstein, Mr. Adamcyk, or Mr. Wright, take it. I have learned material in many of my classes that I know will help me in the real world and prepared me for college/AP tests. I believe that the AP provides more flexibility than IB. I never tried IB at Flathead, but I know that my friends in the full IB program would never have had the time to participate in the other endeavors in and out of school that I did. I always felt safe on district buses (from home) and chartered transportation (to competitions). Finally, the school has greatly improved safety with run lock fight training, but I never understood why the building design doesn't force visitors to enter the office. Though GHS has minor shortcomings from time to time, it is an extremely high quality academic institution."

I Love the school and it's programs are great, BUT when you're told by the office to go to the school site to print off an application and you look and click on everything and it's not there. And there is no place to type in what you're looking for, it gets very irritating. grrr Please update and make your sight easier to use. Thank you JMM

Great teachers that really care about their students. Go above and beyond to help their students succeed

One teacher swore around students and the principal did nothing. Completely unacceptable! There was hardly any homework assigned, which might explain the poor testing scores this school received.
