The school works with students both who are placed residentially and who are placed in the day school who go home at night after having been bussed from surrounding communities. The school provides therapy from licensed therapists as well as classroom support from trained personnel in addition to special ed certified teachers and trained paraprofessionals. The unique needs of the population require adjusted requirements for learning and often every kid in a classroom is on different book or level and is taught individually by the teacher. Bullying is an issue but that's due to the population moreso than lack of staff intervention. The focus in the school is not so much on education and moreso on getting kids mentally and emotionally ready to go back to their home schools. For those that are not able to do this the school provides and adequate but not outstanding academic curriculum. While staff can be matter-of-fact, they have never been rude or disrespectful towards me or the children. I've always felt my children were legitimately cared for everyday and had people invested in their future while they were there.

This is a Montana public school located on a large parcel of land own by a non-profit group. The program has great potential, but suffers from the frequent turnover of the student population due to most of them coming from the Montana and Wyoming social services organizations. The school and the residential facilities are run by separate organizations, which contributes to the difficulties with communication. The physical site is older but still amazing. On site you will find - Farming, gardening, recreation center (with bowling, pool, gym, pool tables, and video games), industrial arts building, Equestrian arts center. The actual education of the student is below par, very low academic expectations for student that are difficult to teach, but they will facilitate learning for those students that are intrinsically motivated learners. They don't take feedback well. If someone asks for more information, or is critical of some part of the program, they simply threaten to kick the kids out of the program.
