Campbell has been life-changing for our son. He started in the primary at 3 and we intended to send him to public school after Kindergarten, but stayed for elementary because we now can't imagine sending him elsewhere. The teachers are phenomenal. His primary teacher is exceptional at striking the perfect balance between being nurturing while providing a structured environment (& freedom within the structure.) She is great at encouraging the little ones to tackle all subject areas. Campbell is an authentic Montessori school, not one where kids have the freedom to spend all day doing baby work below their skill level. I love the holistic focus on mastering not only academic subjects (reading & doing multiplication by age 4 or 5 if the child is ready) but also on being a good friend & citizen. The Elementary program is jaw-droppingly impressive - and the teacher is outstanding. Recently my six-year-old has: researched & written a report about mummies, learned about congruent & equivalent shapes (& baked cookies in those shapes to illustrate!), learned to knit, solved ten-foot-long math problem on graph paper on the floor, made a timeline of the evolution of reptiles, labeled a life-size drawing of the human body, improved his cursive writing tenfold, sung songs in Spanish & French, performed a dance, learned how to use a dictionary, take notes, and paraphrase research, conducted a botany experiment, made a model volcano.....I could go on and on. One of the biggest benefits is that students move their bodies - they hike, have long recesses, stretch out on the floor, or settle in with a good book on the couch. The freedom to move brings about so much more focus as they work! The grounds at Campbell are stunning, and it is worth a visit to the school just to see the natural playground. Yes, there are sticks and rocks and mud - and the kids adore it. They play with musical instruments suspended in mid-air, build forts with natural building materials, and explore nature! The environment is enchanting! The new administration has worked tirelessly to resolve past concerns, improve communications, involve parents more, and is very responsive to any feedback. Above all, the wonderful teachers make the school what it is. My son LOVES school, he is challenged & growing, & he is happy every day. I couldn't ask for more.

Excellent school! My grandson has been in the toddler program since 2014 and has learned so much. We are very excited to see him move on to primary. He loves it. The staff and teachers are knowledgable, helpful and caring. Would highly recommend.

This school is amazing. It has been transformative for my son. After going to an excellent day care, the public Kindergarten in our district totally failed him. He came home angry every day and HATED going to school. Within three days at Campbell he already knew that his teacher cared about him and he began to turn around. The calm teachers, understanding administration, and fantastic families that make up the school have been fantastic. Needless to say we started his younger brother in the same school as soon as we could.

If you are looking for an authentic Montessori education – run away from Campbell. If you are looking for a place filled with Montessori materials where the management and most of the stuff members don’t care to apply some of the basic Montessori principles – you are in the right place. It is true that Campbell used to be a good Montessori school but, very sadly, that is no longer the case. The current management is rather unprofessional, careless and dishonest. That is the reason why most of the good teachers have left in the past 2-3 years. That is also the reason why nearly half of the families moved their child to a different Montessori school. When you visit the school pay attention to the unoccupied rooms. In the past, the school used to accommodate 1 middle school, 1 upper elementary, 2 lower elementary, 3 primaries and 1 toddler (most of the classrooms were close to their full capacity). Currently there is 1 elementary, 2 primaries and 1 toddler (each around 40%-50% capacity) and the number of families leaving the school is growing. Individuals who write positive reviews seemingly don’t understand what Montessori standards are. That is said, I believe that Campbell remains a better option than certain public schools but it certainly is not a Montessori school which can be associated with terms such as authenticity, professionalism, honesty, communication, care…. I wish I didn’t have to write any negative comments about the school but perspective parents, especially those who are new to Montessori, should know what is going on. Yes, Campbell has a great potential (the buildings, the grounds, the quite area) but currently, whilst it is slowly “rotting from the inside”, there is no much hope – unless there are some dramatic changes within the management.

Very disorganized. No help understanding things after you move to primary. Director was dishonest and was not interested in making us feel ok with our experience.
