"An absolutely phenomenal school where our daughter has really blossomed. The parish we live in no longer has a grade school, so we went searching for a school for Kindergarten. After a comprehensive search, we ended up selecting St. Gabriel. Two years in, and we could not be more glad of the decision. We were a bit apprehensive about the whole ""where'd you go to high school?!"" question, as neither of us is originally from St. Louis. Additionally, my husband is not Catholic, so we thought we might be on the outside at first. Nothing could be further from the truth; our entire family was welcomed with open arms from day one. Academically, the educational environment is excellent. Our daughter loves the choral music and art programs. She takes computer, as well as after school programs for chess and astronomy. Thete are enrichment resources available, as well. She also attends Mass twice weekly, once with an upper classman ""buddy,"" who helps show her the routine of the service. Her teachers are kind, smart, and have just that right ""discipline meets learning"" touch. The entire school is working on the virtue of kindness at the moment, as well. Finally, the school has been revitalized this year with the arrival of the new Principal, Kelly Shokmiller, and Assistant Principal, Lucy Gintz. In summary, St. Gabriel is a vibrant school and parish, providing a challenging education and a stimulating environment for our child to meet her full potential."

St. Gabriel's does a fair job in educating students and prepping them for high school. Many of the teachers are arrogant and more impressed with proving they can out smart a gifted student or humiliate a learning disabled student than elevating their learning. The parental atmosphere is notorious in the area for bad sportsmanship. Don't put your child in school at Gabes if the aren't athletic or have interests outside of sports. As a parent, if you want to fit in and want your child to fit in, plan on attending the ACTS retreat. You don't need to go to church, you just have to go on the retreat, so you can make 200 of the closest friends you'll ever have. The ACTS retreat moved into the parish about 8 years ago and took a parish that was already snooty and full of cliques and put God behind those cliques. It's a beautiful neighborhood with other school options around, wish I'd have used them. Many a child has suffered from the combination of Teachers who bully, parents who divide into cliques and children who are raised to be closed minded and poor sports.

"St. Gabes is a fantastic school within a very involved community. The curriculum has evolved to include Spanish, Art, PE and Computer Science. Every classroom has smart boards and computer access from Tablets in Kindergarten to workstations in middle school. The Math, Science and Reading programs are great and I believe are superior to some of the ""STEM"" charter schools. There is an enrichment program for gifted students as well as after school Activities that range from Lego's to Chess to Karate to cooking. Amazingly, the principal knows every child by name and fosters a fantastic learning environment. If you are looking for an excellent education at a reasonable cost where the parents are involved and care about each and every student in the City of St. Louis. St. Gabes is a perfect fit. We love it!"
