excellent, incredible such a wonderful transition from the middle school. Feels like a family. The teachers are engaged, people are approachable, parents are encouraged to be involved. Just top notch. Truely I would not want my kids to go to any other high school in town. Very well rounded student body and I am not the least bit concerned for their safety at this school.

I've had two students attend Hickman high school. It has been a great experience for both of them. The teachers are excellent. The administrators really care about all the students. My kids received an excellent education here

I was a student here for two years. I will go through the positives first, I really enjoyed the diversity of the students, I learned a lot about different lifestyles other than my own. I think the teachers did a pretty good job showing diversity. The school has a nice auditorium with plenty of assemblies. The student body is no worse than the student body at Rockbridge. Atleast from my experience. Also, there are a ton of fast food restaurants located near the school. Weaknesses: Some of the rules at the school were unnecessary or child like. (Especially compared to the other nearby high school Rockbridge) For instance, you cannot leave the lunch room during lunch period. There is no such things as a AUT at Hickman compared to Rockbridge. Also, you need an agenda in order to walk in the halls or else teachers will stop you. The school is located in the inner city so it may be hard to drive there compared to Rockbridge. Watch out for the dairy queen behind the school; thats where all the smokers hang out during lunch.

1,200 characters are simply not enough to describe just how good this school really is (it is THAT good). The Columbia Public Schools' amazing staff has prepared me so well for the real world that I have two advanced degrees in engineering, and I'm well on my way to a doctorate. Most of my friends now have at least a Master's degree and have been highly successful. Academics are extremely challenging--enough that my first semester of college engineering at MU was a cake walk (that is not an exaggeration). Keep it up, CPS!

I graduated in 02, went on to a top university, and found myself more prepared for college-level critical thinking and writing that almost all of my peers. Also, Hickman prepares students for real life, exposing students to a healthy cross-section of cultural diversity and socio-economic backgrounds. Learning how to communicate and get along with people different than yourself is an invaluable skill. Hickman provides this opportunity where many other top performing high schools don't.
