Cooper is an excellent school with a rigorous curriculum, despite its overall reputation. The students are free to air any grievances if their needs have not been met with full support from the administration. Cooper has a team of teachers who genuinely care about their students' success. The student population is diverse, and welcoming. With a positive attitude and motivation, you will go far here.

Cooper is not as great as it used to be. Compared to other districts and schools, Cooper cannot stand up to them. The students are rude, the teachers are occasionally good, but a lot of them are unfair. The leadership of the school is running too strict because of the bad behavior of the school. Unfortunately, students like me have to deal with the newly enforced rules as well. Most of the students don't care about their grades, so thank god for the IB program.

Cooper is a great program lead by great staff. Most students at Cooper like the school even though cooper is not the best school I would recommend going there to get a great attention from teachers and coaches. Teachers care about your success and help you stay on top of your task. The IBMYP program is one of the best honor programs in the nation and it's available for almost every class at Cooper. The English, Science, Math, Art, and Language departments are recommended to their clear information and wiliness to help. I'm glad to be a cooper student who came to the US in 2008 and learned the language by great ELL teacher that cared about every one and made sure that students will succeed when they leave Cooper's doors and move on in life. Go Hawks!!

Cooper can be an AMAZING school as wrong as you stay on the right path. All of the teachers are ready to help students succeed. There are many opportunities for extracuricular activities and help from teachers. I absolutely love Cooper!

I would recommend this school for academic-minded teens who can take the demanding college-level curriculum of its International Baccalaureate program. For that smaller subset of the population, Cooper functions well enough. IB students are insulated from the larger school in many ways. Unfortunately the larger atmosphere here, as one basically expects from a big public school, is jarring and at times almost dehumanizing. My own teens openly say they think African American kids are treated poorly a lot of the time. Cooper's current Principal, Mr. Favor, is a genuinely caring individual who is sincerely fighting the good fight in those areas. I've had reason to interact with him once, over a staff conflict, and he proved to be a thoughtful guy who addressed my concerns fairly.
