My children have been going here for years. First, I will start with the good. This is an excellent school. Make no mistake. The staff is generally very well trained, and dedicated to their students. The administration is compassionate and thoughtful. I have two children there now, and they both love it. Where I reduce the rating is the cost, and the upper el experience. If money is no object in your household, and your child is non special needs, then you should very much consider sending your younger child to this school. It is a true Montessori, and excellent for younger children. However, for most of us... part of education is return on investment. Traverse Children's House upper el tuition is in line with what that of my nephew who is a senior at a major private HS down state. For both of my kids, with tuition assistance, we spend about 19,500/year. In the years that we have had our kids in children's house my friend sent his kids to a local public school. His kids are of a similar age. Comparatively our kids have had roughly similar outcomes, with similar challenges (remedial reading for one student). Another friend with older kids went to a local parochial school. Again, similar outcomes. Also, as time goes on, I think that the difference in education between TCH and the other schools in the area starts to pale. From Primary to 3rd grade they are among the very best in the community, particularly if you have a student who needs help in terms of attention span. Upper El (4th grade and up) and beyond... we've seen students struggle with the transition to other schools, particularly in Math. My eldest reports being bored for the first time; and it seems that much of the attention is spent on the 6th graders and their model UN experience at the expense of the 4th and 5th graders. My end point would be to remember that one of the biggest measures of success is the dedication of the family behind the student. If you have a sufficiently high income, then yes, this school should be a the top of your list for consideration, but I wouldn't go beyond 5th grade, and would strongly recommend leaving after 3rd grade. If, however, you have more average income, and have to fund mortgage, retirement, and maybe try to give your kids some money for college, I would strongly recommend against this school.

This school is the most amazing place I've ever seen. The highly trained faculty blows every other "Montessori" school in the area away. You only need to walk in the door to see and feel the difference. I suggest that even if you don't have children you visit this amazing school.

Beyond compare! My daughter spent 12 years at this school. So wonderful in every way. The most well rounded education I could imagine giving her during such critical years. Very thankful we had The Children's House as an option.

We have two children at the Children's House, one infant and one toddler... and we feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful place for our kids. Not a worry in the world...

This is simply the best environment for education possible. I have three children that attend and am so blessed. My 3rd grader is thriving and has so much self esteem since moving her from a Catholic School to the Children's House. An amazing, individualized difference that contributed to a happy learner who leaps out of the car to run into school everyday. That is worth every penny!
