Avoid this school if at all possible!

This school used to be wonderful and then our principal retired. Now it’s a joke. Classrooms have 26-32 kids in each. Those misbehaving are not being disciplined and sent back to class to continue to disrupt. The good thing about it are the teachers. They care and work so hard but how long before they give up. I’ve had a couple go through and couple more to go. I don’t know if we’ll stick around. Administration (principal) is horrendous.

Avoid this school like that plague if at all possible. Parents, if they accuse your child if anything, make sure to talk to your child, and don't believe everything they tell you.

"I have been a student here for 7 years. I have no idea what the previous reviews were talking about. K-2 grade was the best years I have enjoyed at this school. The rest was horrible. Just horrible. First of all, there was too much drama. There's not much to say about that. Second, was bullying. The staff will not help you. The end. My best friend and I was bullied and they did nothing. The good news? I gave the bullies what they've asked for. The bad news? My best friend never did. She kept getting bullied and eventually, the staff no longer believed her. She'll tell a teacher that someone is saying mean things and you know what they say? ""don't tattletale"" or just wave her off. She had been bullied so many times, in the end, I told her, ""don't trust the teachers, don't trust the staff, they won't help you. They'll only accuse you and make you sad. Stand up for yourself, I'll help you."" We got through sixth grade like that. Third, the staff will forget you. I mean literally what I said. This doesn't happen to everyone nd sometimes I wonder if its only happened to me, but the teachers tend to forget me. I am still only starting to recover from that scar they left. In third grade, the teacher never gave me a Christmas present( a big deal back then) but gave all the other students. In 6th grade, I was accepted to nehs and turned in the money and form. The office said I never turned if in so therefore I was not accepted as a member. Sometime in fifth grade, we were supposed to get our school pictures but the teacher never called me. So I went to her at the end of the class and she said she forgot. I am just starting to recover from these scars. I am now in the ninth grade and I would remember being in junior high and staying all tensed up when the teachers call us. I was always afraid of my name not being called. Now, I have more confidence in myself. I can rant a long time, but I'll stop. Some background information you should know though: I am an all A's student in case if any of you thought the reason for the staff's treatment was because I was ""bad"". And I did not dislike everything. There was a fifth grade teacher I had loved and he would be the reason for me coming to school happy. I did not dislike all the staff either and there was a librarian who I liked that retired 3 years ago. I am sorry that I had never felt at home here."

Former Ann Arbor Abbott parent here. While still concerned about the level of expectation, my daughter is catching up in most areas. She still seems less interested in learning and going to school than before we moved, but communication has improved. Her instructor seems to genuinely care about her success, and the schools principal is very receptive to parental concerns, which is highly appreciated. I maintain my opinion that the work load for children her age is excessive, we are slowly adapting to Burr and Utica.
