My kids have thrived in this safe learning environment that allows them to work at their pace without stress. We love the Montessori philosophy of teaching that has allowed the kids to excel in all areas.

Having a child in Walden Green since Kindergarden and now ready to transition to High School, we feel she is ABSOLUTELY READY!! Tops in her class, very social and thinks of others and how they feel! They teach empathy and understanding and deal with bullying and other problems NOW!! Lines of communication are fantastic and especially since the Director Mark Niedlinger has taken over. The staff are all amazing and it feels like a family - all the teachers know who your student is and are always concerned about them. We have not ONE regret with our experience at WG!!!

Walden Green is a tremendous asset to the local community. From the leadership at the top, through the teaching staff and down to the students, the school is a great place to send children. Grace and courtesy are encouraged and nurtured from day 1 and the faculty take their time to engage every child. Our children are thriving in the environment.

Our son is ALWAYS is excited to go to school! He enjoys interacting with students in all grades as part of the peer teaching feature of his learning process, and is strong at socializing with a variety of age groups. He takes his 'works' at school very seriously and is encouraged to develop independence in managing his time. I wish that I had had this school experience, it reminds me very much of the college skills with regards to focus on team-work, courtesy in the classroom, and being self-motivated to plan your use of time wisely as a student. Bonus: OUTDOOR PLAY TIME EVERY DAY in the woods as a natural playground!

Our son is in his final year at Walden Green; he has been there since Kindergarten. We stuck it out when the previous director didn't work out, and boy are we feeling good about our decision to stay as we approach the end of our time here and reflect back. The new director, Mark Neidlinger (came to Walden Green in 2013 - prev principal of Drummond Montessori in Chicago) is fantastic and brings exactly the kind of knowledgeable leadership Walden Green needs. Since Mark has assumed the helm, he has improved the school in all areas, but most importantly he and the teachers have preserved the small, safe (physical & emotional) independent learning atmosphere while also substantially increasing academic performance (see their web site for the test scores - phenomenal)! Our son was probably a "late bloomer" - wer'e not sure because the incredibly supportive self-paced Montessori environment (with gentle nudging guidance from his teachers) allowed him to blossom when he was ready, and probably much sooner than he would have if he'd felt pressured and shamed, as can happen in some learning environments. He's been above grade level in reading and high average in math for several years now, so the basics are covered. But he is also respectful, confident, curious, and his teachers tell us he has excellent leadership and presentation skills. Skills that will serve him well in the working world, and he's already got them nailed! Because of his Montessori education at Walden Green, our family is blessed with a child who is happy, has several great friends, is excited to go to school every day, and is feeling no hesitation about being ready to head out to a larger school next year. THANK YOU Walden Green Montessori for giving him the very best start possible to his education! We will always be grateful for the opportunity to have a FREE Montessori education for our child - such a bonus for our community. I would highly recommend a school tour to anyone considering Walden Green - that is what "sold" us; go see for yourself if it would be a good fit for your child.
