As a former SASA student and present PhD candidate, I would certainly recommend this school to all parent around the area (esp. those who fall on the lower-income side of the spectrum, like my family did). Now, I graduated ten years ago, so I'm sure things have changed (a beautiful new theater, for example), but I do have to say that I'm disappointed John Olvera is still around. He really did all students a disservice with his erratic, unhelpful, even harmful teaching methods. (As a college-level instructor, reflecting on his behavior has helped me from falling into any of those bad habits.) A stronger foreign language program would really help prepare students, as well.

My child had some fantastic teachers at this school. Teachers that really made a long term difference in his life. We moved out of district but I have to say, we are really sad we had to leave. This was a wonderful school.

As a former SASA student, now college graduated, I can honestly say that SASA was the single largest reason for my success, aside from my family. My teachers taught me that my ideas and opinions wmqttered and were valid (as long as I could succinctly defend them with appropriate evidence), and that has translated well into my workplace success. Thanks to the diverse student body, I am comfortable working with others of any culture or race, and I value those differences that make my world richer. SASA is an awesome place -- take advantage of it if you can.

SASA has long had a tradition of excellence, but I feel that (as a former student), the programs here have largely suffered as of late. Once boasting a stellar curriculum, the extremely small middle school/high school combination focuses more on the arts than sciences, and has lost many students studying sciences. The class choices are minimal, the student body is small, and the sports programs are nearly nonexistant.

SASA is a great school educationally wise. If you are an eighth grader you would be able to go to Washington d.c. for a week and in high school you could go to Chicago, and japan. SASA really is a good school and even though they don't have a wide variety of sports overall it is great. HIGH CLASS SCHOOL NOTHING BUT THE BEST! p.s. I am a student
