My children have been attending IAS for 10 years. I will admit that there was a period of time when things were not going well. Things at the school have changed for the better with the new principals. The school encourages you to visit your child in school and participation in the PTA. The school has maintained a strong academic program, but they have added busing and after school programs (Y and Samaritas), which assist with homework and physical activity for kids. They also have clubs and leadership opportunities for the upper grades. If your child is falling behind they offer tutoring. The school does not have a consistent sports program, although they have offered cross country and boys basketball in the past. I use the Y and local township to offset sports and there is a free music program in Saginaw. My child likes the food and it has opened him up to more food choices. It is an older building, but when I've used the bathrooms they were clean. I would give the school 4 1/2 because of it's focus on academics & it would be a 5, if they did offer music and sports. Finally, I love that the kids wear uniforms, one less thing to deal with in the morning.

A lot has changed at IAS since the reviews here were written. There is a new principal. Parents are allowed to come in to observe the school. Most classes even have extra chairs specifically for visitors to observe classes. Parents can talk with teachers anytime. There is a great band and basketball team. The MEAP test scores are higher than any other school in Saginaw or Bridgeport (not inc. magnet schools). Do your own research: the state of Michigan publishes a list that ranks all schools in Michigan. IAS is ranked MUCH higher than any nearby school.

I throught this was a great school parents said it use to be a great school I recently taken my child out because of no learning and a lot of referral, no communication with teachers, cant go on the inside to help your child out if they are having problems, school is dirty bathrm not clean, water fountain dirty with rings, floors filthy and they do not try to work with you and your child, selective kids are allowed to go to computer class, not all teachers are bad but they do have several Principal cant talk for hisself, so if you want to take that chance send your child to this school it is not what they they say it is.

This school could be a good school if they allowed parents to have a one on one with teacher's. I am pulling my daughter out of this school after 3 years of attending. Their rules make no sense. Parents are no longer able to go into the buliding with their children and it raises a red flag with me... What are they trying to hide? I also don't think they're test scores are as accurate as they portray them to be. I'm just very skeptical about this school. If you're thinking about putting your child here really do some research...They have no music program and no sport programs.
