My daughter is a student at Carlson and is bullied. The school is not doing enough to handle the situation. The girl was suspended, but continues to intimidate my daughter. I would not recommend sending your children here. I feel that enrollment numbers are too high and the children suffer, the taxes here are high as well and the district is not doing well financially.

Fewer options and opportunities. They keep asking parents for more money and delivering less service.

We have a lot of really great students here at Carlson. Students are nice, and we have a great school climate and atmosphere. At CHS, we have a program called PBIS, for Positive Behavior Intervention Systems, that promotes positive behavior and comradery among students. The program has many parts, but for one part we have our "Marauder Captains," who are some of our best juniors and seniors, and they mentor the incoming freshman and incoming students. Since we have started the program, I have seen a positive difference in the school atmosphere and student behavior. I really enjoy teaching here and being a part of the school community.

The school puts more weight in sports rather then a education! An eye sore of a multi million dollar football stadium that out does one a ferris state university.( they cant even up keep) it seems like they are trying to be another grosse ile....without the $$$! I withdrew my son from school on a friday and enrolled him back in florida..... The school in florida sent 4 faxes and 3 voice messages with no reply after 3 days i had to call the school to put a fire under the office to fax info to Florida. I found out after speeking administrators i found out that the HS decided not to replace a counseling Secretary but to keep one in the athletic office I guess the athlectic director is more important then the students!!! If you are looking to move here for the schools..... Look elsewhere!! Grosse ile or Trenton would be my suggestion!!!

For the past 7 years I have been a science teacher at Carlson High School teaching Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Forensic Science and Math. I have also been the Science Tutor for the high school's "Study Table Program" for any student needing help understanding their science homework. After having taught at other schools in the area, I can honestly say that Carlson High School does a wonderful job providing students with great academic, extracurricular, and sports opportunities. In my own science classes I always emphasize the importance of learning science concepts in order to be able to succeed in scientific and medical fields in college. As a former Medical Technologist, I often point out various concepts that they learn in class and how it relates to my former career and to the careers of my husband, two daughters, and son-in-law. (Chemist, Doctorate of Pharmacy, Nurse Practitioner, and Mechanical Engineer). I emphasize "College and Career Readiness" in all of my classes. Carlson High School's administration emphasizes self-discipline and good behavior in all students so that students can learn effectively.
