As a international student, I don't like this school. All the American students knew each other since they are young, so it is almost impossible for you to be good friends with them. They will not treat you as their best friend. Also, international students cannot drive, and sometimes host family will not provide rides. So, you don't even have freedom to do things you need to.

I am currently a freshman at HC. This is going to be a bias review since I haven't gone to any other schools in my life. I feel like the staff and student body push each other to do their best. Like most of the reviews I would agree it is extremely cliquey. I believe if you are a new student you just have to find the right group, and I understand that can be challenging. After all there are cliques within my own clique. One good thing about the cliques is that you are extremely close with those people. I can trust them with anything, and I know they will understand. There is also a huge popularity problem in my grade at least. There is basically a totem pole people try to climb, but end up falling. The teachers at HC are amazing and only get better! The teacher always find ways to interact with the students in different ways. Teachers are more like your friends. The curriculum at HC is also amazing. It is extremely challenging for everyone. They have courses to fit everybody's needs, from fundamental, to regular, to advanced, to AP. Now this isn't only about the High school. All of the other grades are exactly the same! My experience with HC is great!

This school is academically and technologically advanced, however I do feel that we should be a little better prepared for things such as the ACT. The teachers are great though! They really care about you and you can come to any one of them with a problem, school related or not, and they will help you. Spiritually, I am a better person than I would have been had I not attended Holland Christian. Faith is implemented into every class and I see God everyday through the students, teachers, and other workers at HC. Sportswise, I think we should be making a little better decisions with our teams. Don't get me wrong, a lot of our teams are good, but a couple sports such as football have really gotten worse since the state championship in 2008 and the next couple years don't look very promising. I think we should invest more into the sports programs and coaches to give the Maroons something more to cheer about every Friday night. It would be nice if we could start winning some state championships as well. The Maroon Platoon is always ready to cheer, we just need strong programs to cheer for.

I was a transfer student to Holland Christian, coming in as an incoming freshman. I came from a public school and the difference was incredible. I felt extremely comfortable and the students made me feel very welcome. People made an effort to sit by me in class an at lunch. There are cliques, but I found that they are loose. There is a lot of inter-clique mingling and most of the "cliques" get along. It is nothing like the cliques were at my old school. The school was also very helpful through my academic troubles. The counselor and principal both took time out of their day specifically to help me find a way to succeed. The teachers are very friendly, and creative. The teachers all try to teach in a way that is interesting and inviting. They want you to learn for life, not just for a test. Their aim is to help you do well in life. I even enjoyed Latin, a lot, which surprised me. They always seem to have a way to engage the class, which I really love.

Although I have only attended Holland Christian Schools, and therefore am bias, I must say I love it here. Each teacher I've had seems to care about my character equally if not more than how hard im pushing myself. Students are respectful and it is a great environment to learn in. If your an artist, a math whiz, or a writing extraordinaire, Holland Christian appreciates your gifts and there are multiple ways of expressing your individuality regardless of the subject. I have grown so much spiritually thanks to Holland Christian! The student section is fantastic as well, go maroons!
