Northern Trails 5/6 School Ratings & Reviews

Horrible 6th grade experience there. Teacher is a bully who publicly shames kids and runs a classroom akin to a typical 1977 style ( public shaming, verbal abuse). Bullying is a major problem and is often ignored.

Terrible experience. Teacher was a bully. All teachers have their favorites. But good teachers treat all of their students equally, and with respect and kindness. My daughter's 5th grade teacher made no attempt to hide her adoration for some of her students, and her contempt for others. My daughter's self esteem and her love of learning were seriously damaged because of the year she spent at Northern Trails. The teacher's bullying behavior was commonly known in the classroom. My daughter's friends would ask her why the teacher hated her. They would try to console her and tell her they didn't understand why she was treated so badly. Eventually most of the class followed the teachers' lead, and treated some kids much worse than others. I made the principal aware of the situation. She said the teacher was an experienced teacher and she just didn't believe it was happening. She insisted that it was a misunderstanding. The principal never asked any of the other students in the classroom about the situation. If she would have, she would have learned that the pretty blonde teacher with the sweet voice was just a mean girl with a teaching degree. The teacher still teaches at Northern Trails. I feel sorry for her students. All the kids in her class, even her "pets", are learning a terrible life lesson at such an impressionable age.

School is wonderful! I've had 3 children go through here so far and they've all had a great experience! Love the principal & teachers. Parents are really involved with PTO, making their kids experience fun and offer a lot of support to teachers.
