I have a 4th grader at Warrendale and I regret daily sending him to this school. I feel that his academic growth has been stifled tremendously because of his attendance here. The school takes the approach of creating test takers. My fourth grader is constantly referring to his test scores if he is proficient and if he met his goals. Goal setting would under normal premise be a excellent tool to learn as it is very important when thinking about his future but the duress that it puts on the students is unfair and does not promote an organic learning environment. Outside of the test taking environment that is a constant (its always test prep or taking time at Warrendale), another pain point is that students are in the SAME class all day. They do their alleged specials in the class, they have lunch in the class and there is a very small physical element to their learning. This is disheartening as studies have shown that movement especially in younger aged kids is essential for their learning. In volunteering at the school I have found that the teachers and faculty have taken an approach of constantly pushing silence and obedience, which given the tales of the school to prison pipeline and the number of minorities found in this school is yet another thing that I believe Warrendale has gotten wrong. Students are often penalized for free thought and expression. Lastly, there is no cultivating of student interest outside of learning and the learning is centered entirely around the test taking. The students have special clubs that meet once a week but I have found even those to either be centered around the teachers personal interest or yet again the test taking development which as previously mentioned is a constant at this school.

Warrendale is a great school in our community. Students are given multiple opportunities to grow academically. Teachers are personable and look to parents for support. Warrendale's administration team works hard to keep parents satisfied. There are multiple opportunities for parental involvement. Warrendale also has multiple parent nights that allow students to display their work. I have personally had a great experience at Warrendale.

If Excellent Schools information was current...Warrendale's overall grade would be better. The school is better than the current grade indicates.

I go to Warrendale. This school offers many different programs including after school activities like arts and crafts, student council, choir, zumba and much more. This school really cares about the safety environment for their students as well as a great learning community with help after school from the teachers as well. This school has art , music , gym , technology and hybridge for every kid so that they can get that full day of learning something that they never knew. With news letters and Friday assembly, keeping the kids up to date with everything that is going on in their school in a way that everyone can understand the concept. Which is the same way that the teachers teach. WCA also has social workers that the students can trust to tell there problems to and a program Big Brothers and Big Sisters which helps you work on the things you need to work on and mentors that push you to never give up. The staff might be a little hard on the students but know that they are only doing it to push them to there maximum potential which gives them no excuses to do only there best. Excuses are forms of weakness that builds bridges leading to nowhere those who use these tools of incompetence are masters of nothing those who take responsibility for themselves have no need for excuses. This is what one of my schools mottos . It is what us Warriors say every single Friday it represents us. There is another one honor and respect #warriorlife. This school deserves an A++ for that one.

I thought that Warrendale was a great school three years ago we left moved away then moved back, when I say things changed it was a 360 but not for the better. I have now a 8th, 3rd,and an kindergartener. My 3rd grader son had ADHD at times he gets emotional one of his CONS is he can't be still. Throughout the school year we have had issues. I always tell my kids the last thing you want to be known as is an bad kids, because no matter what you do or say your guilty, and that's exactly how he was treated. No matter what he tried to explain they always assumed he was guilty. There's a big difference between being a bad kid and being diagnosed with ADHD . There were times where my son was suspended for just being bad. I also tell them kids are gonna blame things on you, but you have to have self control. My baby was constantly bullied by a group of kids and the teacher always denied or overlooked the situations. He was jumped on by one child in another class she stomped him in the head they lied n said he hit his head like as if he did it on his own. They have it to where you can go online and monitor your Childrens progress, but they may show a few assignments and your child had an F but the semester consist of 8 weeks or more bout o my show 10 assignments? What's up with that? I have the dean and the teacher a few words of my mind. But then I received not one but two of the same letters from the principal now the dean and principal mr glass explains that my behavior was unacceptable, but they never addressed the things my son had been through.
