Dillon is a warm and inviting school with teachers and staff who care deeply about their students. They understand that each student has different needs and learns differently - classrooms are flexible and teachers are able to meet the needs of their students in unique ways. You won't find a better group of teachers - or students for that matter! - anywhere else in the district!

If your child has special needs, try to get them into Rankin. Had I know Rankin was K-5 from the beginning, I'd of gotten my child out of Dillon after the first horrible year. The principal at Dillon is well known by child therapists and medical providers in the area... and not in a good way. If your child does not require anything special... your child will probably be just fine but if they require any specialized interventions, you really need to pay attention to how your child is responding and make corrections because let me tell you, unless you scare the hell out of the district, they are going to do whatever they want. The ONLY reason things eventually went in a positive direction is because I hired an advocate (something parents should not have to do in order for their child to receive services they are entitled to by law).

Mrs. Ryan does an awesome job when you address her with a problem. She don't know something is wrong unless you tell her! She's not physic! The teachers are amazing too!! There are a few things I disagree with. But it's mainly the kids. Obviously it's how they are raised. I mean look where the school is located. But the principle and teachers do a amazing job trying to teach them. It's not the staff fault that when the child comes home, the parents mold them back to their level. Children with anger issues get tons of help. I mean tons. They r not jus punished n sent home all the time. My daughter needed help with math and reading. By the time the year was up, she was reading so much better!! I've personally had to talk to the principle about the kids. Not teachers. The kids. She addressed it RIGHT AWAY! Remember. She is not their mother. She can only do so much. But at least she tries. Instead of a phone call home so the parent can come get them and scream at them making it worse. She keeps them in school, and tries to help them. The food there however, definitely could be better! Also would be nice if students could eat breakfast in the class room. That way they might want to actually eat. My daughter won't eat breakfast alone. As with many kids.

Check out the test scores, and tell me you would feel comfortable putting your child's future here? Yikes! Far below the state average, which is not something to cheer about to begin with. I removed my child from this school after two months. Zero remediation or attention was given to his learning needs. Empower yourselves, you have a choice. You are your child's only advocate. Say what you want about focusing on test scores, if your child doesn't even test average their trajectory is quite limited.
