Friendship School Ratings & Reviews
There is no school at 1545 Progress Way in Eldersburg, MD anymore. The building is listed for sale by Merritt Properties. The school has declined in enrollment and had to relocate.
My son loves this school. There have been some changes recently, but he still loves going to school each day. He has so much more confidence in his abilities now that he is eager to participate in class. In his previous school his main objective was to not be noticed so that he wouldn't be called on in class. The one-to-one tutoring has been wonderful since he gets the undivided attention of the tutor for the whole period. He has also improved in math due to the smaller class size and more individual attention. The teachers and staff have been kind and supportive in making school a pleasant experience for my son. Highly recommend for a "different" learner.
This school is not the "rewarding place to work" anymore as the Admin. Director say's. My son graduated from this school years ago. The teachers are amazing, leadership is lacking. Since he graduated the leadership has released or fired several of the best teachers. The student enrollment is down. The school still has some great teachers, but lost several great teachers. I am sad to say I would not recommend this school anymore as it is not the same quality as it was when my son was there. It is a shame, so many kids need teachers and schools like this. Save your money...get a tutor.
A rewarding place to work. Teachers are all very dedicated to meeting the needs of each child. The curriculum is developed for each child on an individual basis. The study skills program is well thought out and implemented. I wish I would have been taught study skills in school, college would have been much easier!
Friendship is an excellent school for children with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Parents are very actively involved. (The PTO has almost 100% participation). Faculty and staff are well trained, caring, supportive professionals who love teaching and their students. Academic programs are taught using individualized instructional techniques including Orton Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood Bell, and other cutting-edge strategies. A comprehensive study skills program is integrated into each academic class. Classes maintain a 3-1 teacher student ratio and daily language tutoring is 1-1. Outstanding theater, visual arts, music, and technology enhance all academic activities.
